Empties: November 2012

Here comes my very, very late November Empties post. It's a proper November empties though, as I started collecting my December empties in a separate bag when the new month started.

100 Days Spending Ban is Over HAUL!

Quite an overdue post, as will the next couple ones be, but better late than never! My final exam finished on the 17th and it's so nice to be done finally. Now however I am in the midst of the christmas rush and am also working every day after my own wishes so am still quite busy. Thank god I finished my gifts back in November and all that was left was to wrap them, it took me 5 long hours yesterday though! This post is about the stuff I bought after I finished my 100 day spending ban. It is quite a few weeks ago now, and I have to admit there are quite a few more hauls coming after this one. It's been nice to write this post now still as it reminds me of how excited I was when I bought all these products.

100 Days Spending Ban is OVER!

Spending Ban Over Wishlist

Sunday November 4th was the last and final day of my Spending Ban. I had not bought any makeup or unneccesary (things I had more of) beauty products for a whopping 100 days. Needless to say I made quite a few online orders the following day and have been picking up a few bits and bobs over the last few weeks. When all my orders come in I will do my final post in this series; The Spending Ban is Over Haul! In this post I will write more about my experience throughout the 100 days and my thoughts on the whole thing.

Empties: October 2012

I continue to be amazed at how many products I go through every month. This month especially there's a lot of full sized products. I've also made it my mission to try and use the samples I've got lying around in an effort to save money and also, obviously, to try a couple of new things which is always exciting.

Favourites: October 2012

First of all, let me apologize for the lack of posts lately. I'm in the middle of exams and so getting good grades have to be the main priority. I have decided that after my favourites, empties and possibly my 100 days spending ban "reflection post" goes up I will force myself to go on hiatus until all my exams are done. But more on that in a seperate post. Onto my October favourites!

First Impressions: Dior Grand Bal 5 Couleurs in 524 Night Golds and 764 Fairy Golds

This is my first ever "first impressions" post. As I haven't had time to properly test all of the eyeshadows in the two palettes I can't do a proper in-depth review as I would normally, but I still wanted to get my opinion out there while it's still relevant and it could benefit a few on-the-fence buyers.

100 Days Spending Ban Challenge Update plus a Dior Grand Bal Haul

Cold Weather Wishlist

Top L-R; Estée Lauder Double Wear Light, Nars blush in 'Sin, Guerlain Meteorites Perles Du Dragon Illuminating Powder, Clarins Relaxing Treatment Body Oil.
Second row L-R; Elie Saab Perfume, Nars blush in 'Sex Appeal', Diptyque Mimosa Candle, Nars blush in 'Douceur'.
Bottom L-R; Prada Saffiano Bag, Mulberry gloves, Acne Pistol Leather Ancle Boots, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, Chanel 'Notorious', Armani Maestro Foundation, Nars blush in 'Luster'.

Guys, I cracked. Well, kind of. I've gone into the whole Dior 5 Colours Eyeshadow problem before.. It's my favourite eyeshadow formula, but I only have (had) the one, 734 Grege, as it's the only color combination I like from the vast offerings Dior have, including their limited edition releases.. Well, Grand Bal was released about a week ago here in Norway, and unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I fell in love..

NOTD: Chanel 563 Vertigo

From just looking at the bottle, Chanel's Vertigo from their fall collection failed to impress. I found it rather boring. On closer inspection the dark grey colour has a sheen of multicoloured glitter to it, which makes it at least a bit more interesting so I thought I'd give it a go, mostly just to review it for you guys.

Review: Chanel Perfection Lumiere

If you've followed my blog for a while, or just read my review on Chanel's now legendary Pro Lumiere, you'll know I was quite unhappy when I first heard the news of it being discontinued. On the other hand, a new foundation is always exciting and it was a new foundation by Chanel, so I crossed my fingers the replacement, Perfection Lumiere, would be even better!

Review: Givenchy Magic Khol Eye Liner Pencil

When purchasing my beloved Givenchy Phenomen' Eyes Mascara a while back I was lucky enough that it was being sold in a pack with a free mini eyeliner with it. I've never been much of a pencil eyeliner user, but I was still quite excited to get to try this.

Empties: September 2012

Another month another empties post! This post has been ready to go for quite a while now, and excuse the lack of posts in general, I have written reviews that are ready to go, but since moving I can't seem to find anywhere to take good pictures! I've tried everywhere and it's getting really frustrating, especially as having good pictures is really important to me. Basically my new apartment won't let me use any natural light as my windows are all huge windows with plenty small ones inside, creating shadows and lines, so I need to use fake light, and this is really hard. It works on some pictures and for some reason doesn't work at all on others. Please bare with me as I try to figure this out, until then, here are my September favourites - my empties box for October is already starting to gather a few sad goodbyes!

Review: Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Eye & Lip Care

After finishing my Lancome Primordiale Yeux I pulled out my samples of this and decided to put it properly to the test. Guerlain's Orchidée Impériale Eye & Lip Care retails for £104 (Debenhams) so my expectations were quite high. It also had to be  significantly better than other, much cheaper eye creams to properly warrant the hefty price tag.

Review: Chanel Inimitable Intense in 10 Noir

I've kept at it testing mascaras and next up was Inimitable Intense. I have never tried any Chanel mascaras before, and I haven't heard or read much about them either so I was quite excited to try my first one.

Favourites: September 2012

These are products that I have used and loved this month. It could be new purchases or old re-discoveries. There won't always be one in every category, as this is not for what I've been using, but products that have really stood out and that has gotten me excited about make up and skincare. Sometimes I might include things from other categories if I feel it is worth a mention, but not always.

Review: Caudalie Beauty Elixir

I didn't initially want to write a post about this as there's been about a million of them recently. That being said, the Beauty Elixir is an old favourite of mine that I've been using and loving for years, so I figured it deserved a spot on my blog after all.

The 100 Days Challenge: First Update, 2 Hauls (Oops!) and Fall Wishlist - Day 51

Fall Wishlist

On 'darker side'; Truly Madly Deeply Tee, Guerlain Meteorites from their Holiday 2012 Collection, Black Asymmetrical Sweater from Zara, Burgundy Levi's jeans, Yves Saint Laurent ring, Louis Vuitton Empreinte Bag and Zara Studded Sneakers. On 'Beige Side'; Benefit Dandelion, Mango Beige Metallic Sweater, Yves Saint Laurent ring, Elie Saab Le Parfum, Neom Luxury Organics Candle and Prada bag.

Originally I had planned on doing these updates weekly, but as the days went on and the challenge as well I found the less I thought about it the less I, well.. thought about it! I've done quite alright so far, but as I'm just crossing over to the second half of the 100 Days I am finding it increasingly challenging.. I really thought it'd go the other way..

Review: Dior Diorshow New Look Mascara

After my outstanding experience with Dior's Extase I thought I'd move right onto another Dior mascara, ready to be wowed again! Could any mascara live up to Extase, though?

Empties: August 2012

My second empties post! I was initially a bit worried I might not go through enough products to do these posts on a monthly basis, but I guess I couldn't have been more wrong. I have to say it feels amazing to clear up so much space in my closet and the strange feeling of accomplishment from finishing up products really is quite addicting. These posts in addition to my 100 Days Spending Ban Challenge are proving really good for my wallet as well! Everyone wins!

Review: Soap and Glory 'Clean, Girls' Body Wash

Another 5 months, another Soap&Glory Body Wash.. Say what you will about these, but no one can argue they give a lot of bang for your buck.

Review: Veet Hair Minimising Body Lotion

When this was released (what my memory tells me is) about a year and a half ago in the UK I will admit I didn't really think much of it. I didn't really believe anything like this ever worked, and if they did it surely wouldn't be something you could get at Boots for less than 5 pounds. Even so, I ended up purchasing just to give it a go. I figured, with it being so cheap, it couldn't hurt. What if it did actually end up working?

Summer Holiday Hauls: The Airport On The Way Back

My third and last haul from my last summer holiday in France. These products I purchased at the airport on the way back. This will be my last haul for a while, if my 100 days of no spending go as planned. I have ran out of some stuff whilst doing it though, so there might actually be a little mini/mega-haul coming up in combination with my first update - all to be explained! But first onto this little haul that looks quite gorgeous spread out I have to say.. Beautiful packaging is arguably worth the extra money sometimes..

Summer Holiday Hauls: The Skincare

The second installment of my 'Summer Holiday Hauls' trilogy. This is the skincare, mainly purchased from different pharmacies in different locations along the French Riviera.

Review: Clarins Delectable Self Tanning Mousse with SPF 15

I have kept at it, somewhat reluctantly, testing self tanners for you guys! Though I was initially a bit scared of ending up testing a really bad one where I would have to walk around looking like an idiot for days, I have to say I've been all-round quite impressed and haven't had any bad experiences. Clarins' Delectable Self-Tanning Mousse is no exception.

Summer Holiday Hauls: The Drugstore Makeup

These summer holiday hauls posts are a tad late as I got back from France a little while ago now. As I am doing the 100 days of no spending however, I figured there was no need to rush it and I have also decided to split it into 3 parts as well. Partly due to me buying quite an overwhelming amount of stuff, partly because I won't be doing any hauls for a while so why not spread them out?

Empties: July 2012

This is my first empties post. I decided to do these in the beginning of July as I absolutely love reading these posts myself. I also did a "special edition" holiday empties with products I finished whilst on holiday in France a few weeks back. These posts coincides with my 100 Days of no spending challenge making it even better as a lot of what goes out, does not get replaced leaving my droors and cupboards more empty, and my wallet more full.

Review: Kerastase Resistance Forcintense Treatment or 'The Road to Recovery - Part 2'

It's finally time for my first update on my journey back to healthy hair. I admit it has been somewhat more delayed than I had originally planned, but as usual life got in the way as well as wanting to get my hair to a point where I had something to say in terms of the products used and could quote at least some kind of progression.

Favourites: July 2012

These are products that I have used and loved this month. It could be new purchases or old re-discoveries. There won't always be one in every category, as this is not for what I've been using, but products that have really stood out and that has gotten me excited about make up and skincare. Sometimes I might include things from other categories if I feel it's worth a mention, but not always.

Empties: Holiday Empties #1

I am excited to do my first empties post! In the beginning of July I decided to start doing these first and foremost as I simply love reading them myself, and also as a way to encourage me to use up some of the stuff I've got lying around. This is not my first "real" empties post, but rather a little trial teaser to feature the stuff I used up whilst on holiday, hence all the samples. As I do travel a bit, though don't plan on doing it for a while now, I have decided to have a separate empties series called Holiday Empties. I will have a separate July Empties post at the end of the month/beginning of August.

The 100 Days Challenge

Yes, that's right. I'm doing it. As you will see when I start posting my most recent haul that I've found it necessary to split into 3 posts(!) I have acquired enough stuff. Today I decided I needed more storage for my makeup, but after having moved it all into three additional new droors, I still needed more space. It became clear to me that I have quite enough and more than anyone would ever need. I have every color of eyeshadow and blush and bronzer I need. I might like to have others, and that's where all of my problems begin, but I have more than enough to last me a very long time and there are other, more important things, I should be saving for.

The Liebster Award

The lovely Amy over at Rising Sun tagged me for this award a few weeks back and I am so honored. The only reason it's taken me a while to write this post is I had to find 11 blogs with under 200 followers that I wanted to tag myself. That and my holiday was right there in the middle as well!

Holiday Packing Guides: What I took and what I used - the makeup

I just returned from a 10 day trip to the south of France (yes, again) and thought I'd make some holiday related posts. I have a pretty massive haul coming up, but first thought I'd write about what I took with me on holiday and what I actually ended up using. I thought this could be interesting as a little reminder for any of you about to travel yourselves of both what not to forget, and also what you don't really need.

Review: Lancome Gel Eclat

Lancome doesn't get much free press in the blogsphere and sometimes I wonder why. Especially their skincare which has quite the cult following. For years their skincare was the only products I'd let come anywhere near my face. After trying out a bunch of different skincare brands and products, and while I did discover some amazing stuff, I found myself missing some of my old staples, especially as I had pretty good skin when last using the brand. And so I went and picked up my old favorite, Gel Eclat, hoping it would still be as good as I remembered it to be.

Review: Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara

Christian Dior's Diorshow Extase is ment to "plump lashes inside and out" by treating and reconstructing the lashes and as a mascara add lenght and volume. It can be used as a treatment with other mascaras on top, or as a mascara on it's own.

Review: Estee Lauder Double Wear Light in Intensity 2.0

I've never tried Estee Lauder's famed Double Wear Foundation, but I have, like most of you, kept hearing wonderful things about it, and so was always keen to give it a go. Revlon's Color Stay is ment to be a dupe, and I like Color Stay sometimes. What I don't like is how heavy it is, and so I decided to try the Double Wear Light instead!

All used up: Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask

Sanctuary Spa has a fairly reasonable collection of skincare and body care products on offer in Boots. I have tried quite a few of their products and can honestly say I've never been dissappointed. On it's usual 3 for 2 offer I picked up my first 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask about two years ago out of mere curiosity.

Favourites: June 2012

These are products that I have used and loved this month. It could be new purchases or old re-discoveries. There won't always be one in every category, as this is not for what I've been using, but products that have really stood out and that has gotten me excited about make up and skincare. Sometimes I might include things from other categories if I feel it's worth a mention, but not always.

Review: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl

Becca is probably very thankful for Lisa Eldridge's warm recommendations of their Shimmering Skin Perfectors. I can only assume sales must have skyrocketed after her video on highlighters where she talks about them was uploaded. Especially the Pearl one. It seemed to be sold out almost everywhere around London for months. Websites seemed to be sold out the same day they had re-stocked, it was crazy! I finally got my hands on one about a year and a half ago at their London Flagship store on Pelham Street.

Review: Smashbox Photo Finish Light

Anyone that reads beauty blogs will have heard about the Smashbox Photo Finish Light. A staple in many a beauty junkie's collection, I was rather late to try my own hand at this bestseller. Could it possibly live up to it's hype?
