All used up: Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant

This is one of those life-changing products. Not just the product in on itself but the product type. I discovered this when I went on my skincare exploration adventure a little over a year ago and has since converted completely from manual granule exfoliants to mask type fruit enzyme and AHA/BHA exfoliants.

The dermalogica skincare line sure doesn't come cheap and a lot of their products, such as the much hyped about overnight clearing gel, I just couldn't justify at £33.15 (lookfantastic.com) when a normal blemish clearing product comes to under 10 euros at most pharmacies. This product however, comes in at £30.20 for 75ml which isn't too steep, but especially when you consider it's lasted me over a year with almost exclusive use, every three to four days.

I apply this to a cleansed face at night time, a thin layer all over my face and leave it on for around 10 minutes, trying not to leave it on for much more. It says to leave it on for 10-15 minutes, and in the beginning I was always aiming for 15, but 15 easily turns into a bit more as it's just enough time to find an interesting blog post or article to read. Over exfoliation is very bad for your skin, so I have personally shortened it to 10 minutes to be sure I don't leave it on for too long, and the shorter time has also proved to work better with my sensitive skin.

After removing the mask with some lukewarm water I gently tap of the excess water and apply a soothing toner, my night serum, eye cream and a rich moisturiser, sometimes a soothing one if my skin seems a bit aggravated. The next morning I get to wake up to clean fresh looking skin. I instantly have a more even complexion, less oily skin, and skin that both feels and looks less congested.

Will I buy this product again? I honestly have no complaints on the product and certainly see myself going back to it, but as it was my first product of the sort, and it did last me longer than a year, I am a bit excited to try out some other similar products just to see what they are like and compare. All in all I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to try this sort of product, even for, and especially for, others with sensitive skin.
