Review: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl

Becca is probably very thankful for Lisa Eldridge's warm recommendations of their Shimmering Skin Perfectors. I can only assume sales must have skyrocketed after her video on highlighters where she talks about them was uploaded. Especially the Pearl one. It seemed to be sold out almost everywhere around London for months. Websites seemed to be sold out the same day they had re-stocked, it was crazy! I finally got my hands on one about a year and a half ago at their London Flagship store on Pelham Street.

Shimmering bliss comes in a clear tube with a silver pump. It has a dark brown cap that broke rather quickly, with Becca imprinted on a silver metal top. It has a matte feel similar to Nars packaging. You need very little of this and the pump dispenses way too much product, in my opinion, so that's a shame as there is almost always waste. Having said that, as you need so little, I doubt most people will ever actually manage to use this up, which in some ways justifies the price tag of 30 something pounds.

The product itself is described as an Illuminator and has an SPF of 25+ which is always nice. I like to use this locally on the tops of my cheekbones, browbone and sometimes on my cupids bow as a highlighter. It can also be mixed in with foundation to add a nice glow. I have never used it like this, but I imagine the amount of product you get with one pump could be more appropriate when used this way.

Once applied the illuminator is mostly sheer with a mere white reflection. There is a bit of very subtle glitter in different colors, with a leaning towards cooler ones and in particular blue. The effect achieved is quite simply stunning. It is so natural and truly gives the illusion of very, very healthy and radiant skin. It also lasts for ages and ages!

Here blended out a bit

This particular shade is perfect for every shade of pale, in my opinion, but I find it can also be used when I have a bit of a tan. If your skintone is darker I would recommend having a look at the more golden shades instead as Pearl could possibly just end up looking grey and a bit strange on the skin.

If you've been on the fence about Pearl for a while let me tell you it is definitely, definitely worth the investement! And it really is one of those investment pieces. It is a bit expensive, but it will last you absolute ages and ages! I am beyond happy I went for it and can't see myself not having it in my collection, ever!
