Seeing as I'm quite obsessed with skincare and have been for a while, I figured a post about my skincare routines would be fitting. I've split them into two parts; morning and evening.
First a little bit about my skin; It's fairly normal, but is somewhat dehydrated and can lean oily at times, mostly during the summer months, but only in the t-zone. I'm your bog standard combination skin. My skin has been quite the independent soul, doing whatever it pleased in the past, but I've got it under control now and have had it that way for almost the last two years. Please take my skincare advice with a pinch of salt as I'm not a dermatologist or in any way a skincare specialist. I am only sharing what I do in the hopes that it might give someone an idea of what to try if they are looking to improve their skin.
First of I start with the Shiseido The Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam. The Emma Hardie cleanser is my favourite, I use it in the evenings and I would use it morning as well, but I have all these other cleansers so I'm going to use them up at least. This Shiseido one is real nice though, it doesn't foam up too much and so it doesn't strip the skin. It's also nice and quick for busy mornings.
Secondly I use a toner. I don't use both the Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion and the Lancome Tonique Douceur at a time, but choose between them. If I've not slept enough, had alcohol last night, feel a bit sick or anything else less than normal I opt for the Mega-Mushroom toner and it works wonders, I will not ever be without this. On normal days I use the Lancome one and it's gorgeous. It's also not harsh at all and preps the skin for my serums that come after.
I am currently using the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye before my eye cream and I really like it. After applying that I dab on a bit of Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Skin Tone Correcting Serum and make sure to massage it in quite well.
Whilst letting the Mega-Bright serum absorb I apply my eye cream. I was using the Origins GinZing but recently ran out so now I'm back to samples wich I've been quite enjoying. Especially as Clarins' Eye Contour Gel is really nice. I apply only a little bit, a litte goes a long way and love that it seems to absorb completely quite quickly.
I don't want to pack on too much in the mornings, but if I'm not going anywhere I like to use the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo as a serum and rub a small bit over my face after the Origins serum has absorbed. If my skin is having a bit of a "moment" I will use this morning and evening as a correcting serum until everything is back to normal.
After that's fairly "dry" I apply my Clarins Daily Energizer Cream-Gel. This is really nice and light, but still moisturising. It gives my face a nice glow and contributes to keeping skintone nice and even.
I will then usually go about doing some other things while that dries down; getting dressed, brushing my teeth, breakfast etc. Finally I apply my daily sunscreen. At the moment I am using this sample by Shiseido Urban Environment UV Protection Cream Plus SPF 50. I always use SPF 50 and I have to say that while my favourite is the Eucerin Mattifying one, this Shiseido one I'm finding really nice at the moment.
Finally I will apply my makeup, or if not before I leave the house or a few hours into the day I will spritz a good few sprays of the Caudalie Beauty Elixir all over my face. It's a gorgeous product and I don't even know how many bottles I've been through but I will always re-purchase.
