Last year I received a generous sample of the Guerlain Meteorites Perles primer which I brought with me on my trip to New York. I'd never tried any Guerlain primer before, nor had I considered them to be honest. It was the end of June/beginning of July, and New York was unbelievably sunny, hot and dry. Somehow though, my makeup stayed put and looked nice from early morning until evening. I put it down to this primer and the Urban Decay De-Slick. Once I arrived home, I purchased the full size immediately.
You might think it's odd how I love this so much, yet haven't used that much in the almost one year that I've owned it. This is not down to me not wanting to use it, but simply me really focusing on finishing up primers and foundations for the past year. I'm now down to just this one and my other favourite; the Hourglass Mineral Veil.
As with all Guerlain products, this also comes in beautiful packaging. The primer is a composition of pink pearls inside a gel-like liquid, that somehow gets crushed as it goes through the pump and onto my hand. The product has a nice glow to it, but don't worry if you've got oily skin, it's not going to give any noticeable "over-glow" to the face, just a slight, slight sheen where the light hits the skin.
Guerlain has two primers - this one, and the L'Or one which has flecks of real gold inside. The L'Or primer is meant for dry skin with the gold giving the skin radiance, while the Meteorites Perles, this one, is for combination/oily skin and is your best friend when you want to combat shine and need your makeup to stay on throughout the entire day.
Also typical of Guerlain's products, this is a very fragranced product. It doesn't linger and is only really noticeable when you are applying it. I don't have the most sensitive skin, but my skin can react to heavily fragranced products sometimes, but I haven't had any reactions to this. I would make an educated guess that if you are usually fine with Guerlain's other products, you will probably not have a problem with this either.
I don't use much of this at a time. Just one pump is enough. I spread it between the palms of my hand and apply it focusing on the t-zone and taking whatever is left and spreading it outwards. Not only does the primer help makeup stay on for much, much longer while keeping oils "at bay", but foundation also goes on much smoother. I find the primer fills in pores, fine lines and the foundation also gives a more flawless overall finish.
I don't have a bad word to say about this primer. I can't decide which I like better between this and the Hourglass Mineral Veil, but the two are my absolute favourites. I'm happy to finally be down to the two, and will most definitely repurchase this when I run out.
