Favourites: September 2014
The past month has been weird in the makeup department. It was fall, but not quite fall yet, so it was a bit confusing what colours felt right. I've been kind of back and forth between fall and summer colours depending on if the sun was shining or not. Through switching colours there were still a few staples I stuck to for the most part, and those are the items I will be talking about today. You may have noticed, I don't have any skincare this month. This is simply because I've written about all of the items I loved this month quite recently. The star skincare item I would have to say was La Mer. I went back to using it every night and my skin has been wonderful for it. Now for the makeup and a very special perfume.
I've been hooked on the Dip Brow for a while, but this month I went back to the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Medium Brown ( here ) and I just couldn't put it down. The mixture of the two colours let you add extra definition where needed with the darker colour, and just a bit of filling in where you need less with the lighter. This also lasts all day, goes on exactly where I want it, no fall-out, no fading.. No complaints! I love this!
A bit of a classic now in my collection; the Tom Ford Lipstick in Casablanca ( here ). This was my first ever Tom Ford lipstick, and though I've now got four that I all love, Casablanca is still my number one. Aside from the superior formula the colour is a perfect mauve. It's dark enough to give a bit of attitude, but not so much that it can't be worn everyday. If I had to have just one lipstick, this would be the one.
There is one brand new product in this Favourites post, and that is the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in 15 Ombre Mercure ( here ). I've heard the raves on these for a while and finally picked up two colours when I was in Dublin. I love both, but have been wearing Ombre Mercure the most as it's the most neutral of the two. The colour is a kind of silver toned green, if that makes any sense, and it's absolutely stunning. Formula is also top notch, really want to get more of these!
Another Tom Ford product I've been loving this month is the Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen ( here ). This is a liquid felt tip eyeliner, but it has two sides. One is a bit thicker and longer, whilst the other is very thin and short. This gives a lot of control compared to others. It's also really black and doesn't budge until I take it off with makeup remover.
The last makeup product is the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel ( here ). You've all heard about this before I'm sure, and most of you have probably tried it. I finally got around to it this month - and wow. I never thought eyebrow gels could be that different - after all, they don't have that complicated a job. Boy was I wrong! This is miles better than anything I've ever used, and I'm noticing such a difference. If you've yet to give into the hype and try this - do it, you won't regret it!
Finally I wanted to feature the perfume Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle ( here ). I bought this in September after wanting it for absolutely for ever and I've used it almost every day since. This is mainly a beautiful tuberose scent. It's sexy, but classy and suitable for every day use. It has a lot of character and is simply one that needs to be experienced to understand. If you spot Frederic Malle definitely do have a smell of this, and the other perfumes - they are all exquisite!
