I told you this was going to be massive! My "empties bag" was close to full already just one week into the month, and I've had to put things next to it the last few weeks as it was absolutely overflowing. I considered making this a two-parter like I've done once before, but while it's going to be a long one I'm gonna do it all in one big post. So get that tea, or cup of coffee ready and let's do this.
Biotherm Lait De Douche Cleansing Shower Milk 75ml ( here )
This is a very nice shower cleansing milk. It's gentle on the skin and cleans without stripping the skin. Perfect for those with dry skin, sensitive skin or anyone really. I really enjoyed this - and it's paraben free!
Biotherm Lait De Gommage Gentle Exfoliating Milk 75ml ( here )
This is the shower scrub from the same range as the shower milk above. It's gritty enough to be effective and the granules don't just "disappear" once you rub it on the skin. It's all in all a very nice body scrub - and paraben free as well!
Molton Brown Relaxing Yuan Zhi Bath & Shower 300ml ( review - here )
One of my all-time favourite shower gels due to the scent. It foams up nicely and doesn't strip the skin, so it's an overall great product. It does have sulphates though, which I'm trying to avoid. This and only this is the reason I won't re-purchase. For now at least, as I've said I won't buy it again for this reason in the past, yet succombed to just missing the relaxing scent too much. This is gorgeous at the end of a long day when you need to stop thinking thoughts and get ready to sleep. The name of this has been changed to 'Ylang-Ylang', but it's still the same product!
Kiehls Creme de Corps 500ml ( here )
This is one of my favourite body lotions, hence the mega-sized bottle. I love the subtle almost non-scent of this. It absorbs well without leaving any residue, yet gives the skin this gorgeous sheen. I also love the pump bottle - so quick and easy in the mornings. The only thing I don't like is that it has parabens, which I am really trying to avoid, so I won't re-purchase, for now. I'll miss it though.
Biotherm Lait Corporel 125ml ( here )
Another really nice body lotion. I've gone through countless big bottles of this in my life. Probably 50 or something in total. Lait Corporel is a very nice light body lotion with a fresh, but subtle citrus smell. It absorbs really well, hydrates really well, but no residue or greasy feel.
Redken Extreme Fortifying Mask for Distressed Hair 250ml ( here )
If you've got really distressed and damaged hair - this is for you. Anyone over-bleaching, always heat-styling or colouring their hair - get this. Redken's Extreme mask used to strengthen the hair, but without providing much moisture leaving hair not-so-nice feeling and looking, though stronger indeed. This updated version does both. It strengthens the hair, but also leaves it silky smooth and glossy. Highly recommended to anyone with hair in serious need for help - this is always what I return to when I feel my hair needs it.
Oribe Signature Moisture Mask 175ml ( review - here )
This is a pure moisturising mask - but a beautiful one at that. This leaves hair glossy, smooth and like silk to the touch. It doesn't weigh hair down at all, so you can still get all the volume you want. It also smells heavenly and looks stunning. Not that we should expect anything less, it's Oribe after all.
La Roche-Posay Serozinc 150ml ( here )
This is so amazing. I've used this as my morning toner for months now and I really miss it. This was my last backup from France, the next time I go I'll probably buy ten! This soothes the skin, calms down any redness, disinfects and helps clear the skin. It's truly amazing, and pretty cheap as well. Worthy of all of it's hype.
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist 100ml ( review - here )
This is lovely, and the scent is gorgeous. This is a pretty nutritious toner, but the formula is quite thin so it doesn't feel quite as potent as the thicker ones. This is due to the spray bottle I'm sure, but personally I'll always prefer to wet a cotton pad and wipe across the face. Still, this was absolutely lovely. I enjoyed it most when sprayed across the face after having applied makeup, or to simply uplift my mood - the scent is that good.
Antipodes Antioxidant-Rich Gentle Toner 100ml ( here )
This was such a fail. When I first started using this it would make my skin burn and turn absolute red. Obviously I stopped using it. About a month and a half later I decided against better judgement to give it another chance, and this time it worked fine. It continued working fine, at least without making my face tomato red, for a few weeks, until it suddenly started doing it again. I decided I'd officially had it and into the empties bin it went. Really really disappointing. I always wanted to try Antipodes and I know they have other great products, but this was just such a fail I can't help let it leave an unfortunate impression of the brand overall.
Shiseido Facial Cotton 60 Sheets ( here )
Love these! I'm currently trying a cheaper option - Muji's 100% cotton squares and they are quite lovely. Not as good as the Shiseido ones, but quite good, and less than half the price!
Jason Power Smile Mouthwash 473ml ( here )
A decent mouthwash. It's very nice in terms of taste and it's all natural, so I'll keep using it.
Arran Aromatics Parfumeur Just Grapefruit and Herb Garden Candles ( here )
These are the last two of these mini candles from the set I got for my birthday at the beginning of the year. 'Herb Garden' is a really nice spicy scent, and 'Just Grapefruit' is a soapy fruit scent. These candles are quite nice quality and I enjoyed using them, though they are not my favourite.
Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil 30ml ( here )
I love this. I love rosehip oil in general, but this is a particularly good version of the rosehip oil for use on the face. I've of course got a backup and will probably have one before that one runs out as well. Can not be without this!
Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex 10ml ( review - here )
This is a gorgeous face oil and I've been having a really hard time forcing myself not to re-purchase. I've decided I need to get through all my other face oils I use for daytime first, but I have to say I really really miss the beautiful glow and even tone this gives my skin. I will definitely re-purchase eventually, probably soon.
Ling Hi-Vitamin 12% Anti-Oxidant Brightening Solution 30ml ( review - here )
Another favourite I finished this month - this is amazing! I use it in the evenings whenever my skin is feeling a bit congested or looking dull. The next morning my skin is clearer, more even toned and if I have any blemishes they have either cleared up or are looking a lot better. I've got a back up of this already that I'll be cracking open once I've finished a few other serums that are half-way done.
La Mer Moisturizing Cream 30ml ( review - here )
I finished a lot of skincare favourites this month and this is another one! I've also got a backup of this waiting while I try and finish off some other night creams. This one is especially hard as I notice such a huge difference with my skin when not using this. When I am using La Mer as my night cream my skin can handle almost anything without breaking out. Any breakouts I do get clear out incredibly quickly. I am merely trying to finish the other products I've got as I know I only want to use this, and if I don't use it now before I open my new La Mer I'll never do it. I probably won't wait until I've completely finished everything else to open my next tub, but for as long as I can be bothered to.
Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Overnight Detox Oil 1ml x 2 ( here )
This was quite nice. The samples are very small so I didn't get a really good impression either way, but I've got a few online orders with more of these on the way. I will say I did enjoy them, and my skin did look rather nice in the mornings. I would've ordered it as I really trust Caudalie, except I've got so many night serums at the moment.
Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum Complexion Correcting 10ml ( review - here )
This was my third time using this. While I've never disliked it, and the second time around I was quite pleased with it - I don't think it's ever wowed me as much as it did this time around. I guess as I get older by each time I use a bottle, my skin is more and more in need of the treats this serum provides. This gives the most unbelievable glow, evens skin tone and helps clear out blemishes. I've ordered a full-size and can't wait for it to get here already!
Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum 10ml ( here )
I love this as well. This doesn't bring the wow factor as much as the Vinoperfect serum as the effects are more subtle. This just make my skin feel good, and look healthy. It nourishes, soothes and makes my skin feel just overall better. I've ordered a full size of this as well.
Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Mask 30ml ( here )
This mask is lovely. It's got a thin formula that you can rub into the skin so you can't see it and almost not feel it. It moisturiser well without feeling too greasy or heavy. I loved this so much I've bought the full size!
Lancome Hydra Zen Soothing Anti-Stress Moisturising Cream SPF15 15ml ( review - here )
This is a nice enough cream, but nothing too special. It hydrates well, it feels good and not greasy and it has a nice soothing effect on the skin. Great if you have sensitive skin.
Juvena Skin Energy Charge Gel 5ml ( here )
This was ok, but not hydrating enough for my dehydrated skin.
La Prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Dry Oil 3ml ( here )
This is ok, but for the price it should be extraordinary. Surprisingly this left my skin feeling dehydrated and tight by the afternoon. It makes my skin look nice, but the Tata Harper oil I wrote about previously in this post makes my skin look amazing. I've got a few more samples of this that I'll go through, but after finishing this first little tube I'm definitely not convinced.
Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial ( here )
This was amazing. I got this sample from a lovely SpaceNK sales assistant in Dublin and used it the same night. The next morning my skin looked - simply put - freaking amazing. I've bought the full size.
Sunday Riley Juno ( here )
I'm always hoping to get the hype surrounding Sunday Riley products, but every sample I get of the brand either breaks me out or leaves me with no impression at all. This was certainly nice, but without any wow factor. I did only get to test it one day though, so I'm withholding my final judgement. I'm still really keen to try it - I guess the hype just gets to me.
Embryolisse Filaderme Emulsion 2ml ( here )
This is nice enough, but not at all hydrating enough for my skin.
Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Eye and Lip Cream 2ml ( review - here )
This is a really nice eye cream. It plumps the skin, smooths out fine lines and leaves skin looking lovely and healthy. It's really expensive, but if you can afford it I really recommend it!
Molton Brown Ultrasmooth Coco de Mer Body Lotion 30ml ( here )
This was a very nice body lotion with a gorgeous scent. No complaints, I'd buy this. Not a must, though. This has changed it's name to 'Coco & Sandalwood', but it's still the same!
Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream 100ml ( here )
This is a really nice hand cream. I've gone through so many tubes of this, both deluxe samples, small samples and full-size. There's not much left to say other than that I still really like it. It's not enough for a night hand cream during the winter, but for daytime it's perfect all-year round.
Caudalie Pamplemousse Rose 30ml ( here )
I love Caudalie's hand cream and this scent is very nice and fresh. I especially love the size these come in - more companies should sell hand cream sets in small sizes!
Deborah Lippmann the Stripper Lavender Nail Lacquer Remover 118ml ( here )
This was really nice. Obviously the pump design is incredibly handy, but the formula is fantastic as well. It removed polish better and faster than pretty much any nail polish remover I've ever used. Also, if I'm correct, Deborah Lippmann's products are supposed to be a bit better on the ingredients list as well - so double win!
Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche Eau De Toilette ( here )
This is a nice perfume, but very anonymous in my opinion. It's nothing really special, but lovely nonetheless. I don't see myself buying this, though wouldn't return it if I got it as a gift. It's one of those - you all know what I mean!
The Body Shop Lip Scrub ( discontinued? )
I found this when cleaning and was quite surprised as it's a long time since I last saw it. I'm getting rid of it cause it's just old, but I will say this was quite nice. I really liked having a lib scrub in a tube, it was a lot less messy than the tubs with sugar.
Sephora Nourishing & Balancing Honey Mask ( here )
This was ok, not fantastic. The mask itself though, is horrible. It kept sliding off my face where I had to re-fit it continuously. The effect was decent, but nothing I really noticed to be honest. Not something I'll buy again, or recommend.
Sephora Anti-Fatigue & Energizing Pomegranate Mask ( here )
This one actually fell right off my face and onto the floor after five minutes! It obviously went straight in the trash after that, so I only got to use it for five minutes - but while of course, yes, that's not a long enough time, it really didn't provide any anti-fatigue or energizing effect. Which is a real shame as it had been a long week with little sleep and this felt like the perfect thing that evening. Oh well.
Stila Eye Shadow in 'Kitten' 2.6 g ( here )
This is a beautiful super shimmery champagne colour. I wanted to finish it as it had cracked and kept getting everywhere, but the eyeshadow itself is fantastic and one I'll miss. I wouldn't mind buying it again at some point in the future.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light 10g ( here )
This is my favourite powder. It gives the skin the most beautiful glow, the yellow helps conceal redness and it doesn't feel heavy or drying on the skin. I only finished the little I had left of this to move onto my back-up. As long as they keep making this, I'll keep buying!
Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch 15ml ( here )
It took me three days to finish the tiny bit I had left of this, and it's been months since I last used it. How silly. The product is nice enough to blur out imperfections, pores and fine lines. It's got a tendency to make my skin a bit oilier than usual though. Overall this is ok and I can see why so many like it, but it wasn't a great fit for me and my skin.
Nars Pure Radiant Concealer in Light2 Vanilla ( here )
This I love. It's creamy and gives a beautiful finish that is incredibly natural. It blends beautifully, covers really well and lasts all day. I've already bought a new one.
Guerlain Maxi Lash in 01 Noir ( review - here )
This was really nice. It gave nice fluttery lashes with a bit of length, volume and seperation. It was also buildable, both at first, but also if you wanted to add some more drama later in the day. It got pretty bad towards the end, and the added scent could sometimes irritate my eyes when I was removing it and for this reason I don't plan on re-purchasing. But I might, as I really did like it.
Revlon Lip Butter 090 Sweet Tart ( here )
This was part of my 'Finish 5 By Fall' tag and while I didn't finish it completely by the end of that, I did finish it by the end of October. This is a very nice, super bright pink that packs a lot of pigment, lasts really well, but also doesn't dry out the lips. I probably won't re-purchase as I've got too many lip products at the moment and that I want to try, but I wouldn't mind using it again - it was nice.
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in Birthday Suit 4.5g ( review - here )
I threw away a bunch of my cream shadows last month after smelling them and realising they had all gone off. All but this one. The weird thing was I'd had this for as long as others that had gone off. I decided to try and focus on this to use it up before it too went bad, but knowing that the others I'd bought at the same time had expired kinda left me not wanting to use this so in the bin it went as well. This is an awesome taupe-brown colour, in a gorgeous buttery formula that I absolutely wouldn't mind owning again.
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack 3g ( here )
This is an amazing gel eyeliner. It's smooth and easy to apply, super black and lasts all day. It's also really good for smudging out. I've used this for quite a few years now and after the smelling-fiasco of last month I realised this month I should probably have a whiff of this as well. It wasn't terrible, but it was a bit off as well so I decided using it pretty much non-stop for 3 years had got me my moneys worth anyway. I'll definitely consider buying this again.
Lancome La Base Pro Perfecting Makeup Primer 7ml ( here )
This is nice. It helps smooth the surface of the skin which gives a more flawless finish. The gel formula is a bit greasy, and my skin tended to look a bit more oily towards the end of the day than otherwise. This was nice, I definitely get what the hype was about, but I don't think I'll buy this. I wouldn't mind using it, it just wasn't a wow product.
