Empties: January 2015

Things have been quiet around here lately, and I do apologise. I was the lucky recipient of the flu virus, and on my birthday of all days as well - and have been consequently completely out of business for over a week. It was all pretty horrible, but the cloud is slowly lifting and I'm almost back in full form. To start off I'll run through the first empties post for the year!

Caudalie Grape Water 75ml ( here )
This is a nice toner. I've never bought the full size, but have received a few deluxe sized samples like this one in combination with buying other Caudalie products, and am always happy to get it. It's a gentle toner, that's nothing spectacular, but nice nonetheless.

Institut Esthederm UV inCellium Spray 100ml ( review - here )
This is a bit of a weird one. I'm as undecided as to what it actually does now, as I was when I first bought it. It's supposed to help skin protect itself from the sun, but I'm still not sure if it's got any sun protection in itself. It's nice as a face spray with a bit of benefits and nurture, but not one I'll probably buy again.

Indeed Laboratories Pepta-Bright 30ml ( here )
This is a serum meant for evening out skin tone and help heal scars and pigmentation marks. My skin is terrible when it comes to leaving red marks after even the tiniest blemish, and so I swear by these types of serums. While Pepta-Bright is good, and gives a nice instant glow when using it, it's not the best I've used for this purpose. I wouldn't be opposed to using it again, it's nice overall, but I've got other serums I prefer. They are, however, a lot more expensive than this, so if you want something cheaper then this is a good bet.

Origins Super Spot Remover 10ml ( here )
I only got through half of this tiny tube before I decided that it was a bit too old for me to comfortably continue to use. That's a good thing actually, though I never like throwing away product. This is good for helping heal blemishes and make them disappear faster. I would apply this overnight only. It's got exfoliating acids to help unclog the pores, and this works but it is indeed a bit uncomfortable and I did find this would dry out the skin. I would like to try something a bit more gentle next, but overall this is a good product that I'd recommend if you need it.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold with Glycolic Acid 100ml ( here )
Another acid exfoliator. This is the very hyped Alpha-H Liquid Gold that I never got around to reviewing, because I simply could not make my mind up on wether or not I liked it. This mostly as my opinion varied enormously. Sometimes this would work amazingly and make my skin look better than ever, and have on those occasions been featured in favourites posts. Those times this was the answer to all my skin problems. Other times I found it to be too harsh for my skin, leaving it noticeably irritated and worse than the day before. It would be dry, irritated, red and I'd get blemishes. I'm not sure what made the difference, but I've decided not to re-purchase and look for something similar, but more gentle. If your skin can handle most things though, this can be really really good.

Yves Saint Laurent Ombres Duo Lumieres Eyeshadow Duo in 23 ( discontinued )
This is a nice enough eyeshadow duo. The peach color never had much payoff, but the brown is very nice. It's got a lot of depth and blends beautifully. However, I've got so many browns and my sister-in-law (soon to be) loves anything peach, and brown eyeshadows, so I've decided to give it to her.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel 30g ( here )
It's finally time to let this go. I've had this for longer than the recommended time, and so I'm no longer comfortable using this. Cream products really do go bad, and while I really did get a lot of use out of this, there's still way too much product left for me to get through in any short amount of time. Besides I just want to use what I want from my collection. Soleil Tan de Chanel is a very nice product if your not super pale and it gives a gorgeous effect. I'll probably miss it, but won't consider re-purchasing unless this would be my everyday bronzer as there's just too much product to go through otherwise. I'm really keen to try the RMS Buriti Cream Bronzer next!

Lancome Color Design 1.52g ( gift with purchase )
This is a really nice gift with purchase I received some time ago. There's no reason for me not to use this, I really really love it, but I just end up using other things. When I travel I tend to take my Tom Ford palettes and so this just sits in my collection. My mom travels a lot and loves anything mini, and so I've given this to her to enjoy instead.

Guerlain Meteorites Perles Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer 30ml ( reviewhere )
This is a makeup product I didn't even try to finish, but that's all used up! I also haven't had it around for ages. I just really really like it. It gives a smooth base for makeup and makes it last for ages. It's quite fantastic and I definitely want to re-purchase once I par down my not-too-big, but enough-for-now primer "collection".

Estee Lauder Pure Color 25 Melon Shimmer ( gift with purchase )
There's a few gifts with purchases going this month. This one as it's a dupe for other colors I have, and this one I didn't pay for. It's also a bit frosty, which isn't my cup of tea. The lipstick itself has a comfortable formula and the color is flattering when I've got a slight tan in the summer, but I've got other colors just like this, without the frost, and that I did pay for so I'll be focusing on those when summer rolls around.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal Lipstick 321 Crystal Ecru ( gift with purchase )
This is a brown, golden frosty shade that could be an interesting shade if you are doing professional makeup, or have really dark lips, but on me it just looks like I've eaten frosting and got most of it on my lips. Not a flattering shade that frankly took up space in my collection for far too long.

No7 Lip Glacé in 'Jelly Bean' 12ml ( here )
This I really liked, but I think it's gone off as it doesn't apply the same. It separates and gives a very weird patchy pink colour - not flattering, so off it goes. It should be noted that I got this in a very generous 70% off sale, and so it might have already been a bit old. It also cost next to nothing, so it had a good run and I'm ok with throwing it out as I have used it a fair bit. I'm just really keen to get my glosses down to an amount that I'll go through continuously on a yearly basis.

Barry M Lip Liner in 2here )
The Barry M lip liners are really good. If you are on a budget but want to expand your lip liner colours, I'd absolutely recommend these. I've had this one for a few years and as it's a cream product I've decided to get rid of it. I used this quite a bit, even though it doesn't look like it!

Clarins Lipliner Pencil in 03 Nudehere )
Clarins have some really really good lip liners, I'm just cleaning out the older ones and this is one of them. This stays on incredibly well, almost through anything and is nice and easy to apply. I've got another newer Clarins lip liner, and wouldn't mind owning more should I need another colour.

Chanel Precision Lip Definer in 55 Fuschiahere ) & 56 Orange Intensehere )
Chanel has a fantastic colour selection with their lip liners. They go on really smoothly, and stay put. These are just a bit old so I'm getting rid of them. I'm trying to really go through my lip liners and either get rid of, or use them up this year. I always skip them, which is silly as I love lipstick and using a lip liner makes it look so much nicer. I'm hoping to go through all my lip liners this year, and by next year have all new ones that I've also gotten into a good habit of using.

Guerlain The Eye Pencil in 05 Amber Silver 0.5 g ( here )
This was terrible. It looked absolutely beautiful when swatched on my hand, but applied to the eye it barely showed up at all - and I kept applying and applying. I took it out the other week to give it another chance, but the whole thing has completely dried out! This is my newest eyeliner as well! I will never buy any of these again, and neither should any of you!

Chanel Precision Eye Definer in 70 Khaki Platinehere )
This is a nice eyeliner - similar in colour to the Guerlain failure. Chanel has good quality eyeliners (nothing spectacular), and I might buy another one in the future. For now though, I'm good.

Bourjois DuoChrome Eyeliner in 64 Tilleul Doré 1.17g ( discontinued )
This was absolutely terrible. Another one of those that looked beautiful on the hand, but never showed up. This hasn't dried up, but it really doesn't show up at all so there's just no point. In the bin it goes.

Bliss Lid+Lash Wash Makeup Remover 30ml ( here )
Not a fan of this. It doesn't take off mascara too well unless I use a lot of product, which then gets in my eyes and that really stings. I've also owned the full-size of this. Don't believe the hype, well, it might be good for others, but I know it really didn't do anything exceptional for me.

La Mer The Moisturising Lotion 3ml x 2 ( here )
Most of you will know by now how much I love the original Creme de La Mer. With my skin being a bit dehydrated this winter I wanted to try some of their lighter versions that could possibly work under makeup for during the day. The Moisturising Lotion is very nice, gives a very nice glow similar to the original, but still a bit heavy for daytime use for me. I'll be sticking to my other day creams and keep the La Mer treats for night time. When I get a bit older though, or if my skin starts getting more dry, I'll probably give this one another try.

La Prairie Cellular Night Repair Cream 5ml ( here )
La Prairie's Cellular Night Repair Cream is a beautiful night cream. I've used the full-size in the past, and I sometimes do miss it. The consistency is really nice, it smells good, but most importantly it's a very nice treat for skin that is tired, dull, dehydrated or generally not it "usual self". I don't want to buy another expensive night cream at the moment, but I might cave for this one at some point. It's really good stuff.

La Roche-Posay Redermic R Eyes 5ml ( here )
This was a pretty good eye cream I would use at night. The consistency is on the thinner side, and it overall felt more like a serum, but I still used it in place of an eye cream, on top of my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum. It worked well, but I found when I returned to a more moisturising eye cream after finishing this, that worked better for my skin.

Declare Caviar Perfection Luxury Anti-Wrinkle Body Butter 200ml ( here )
This was featured as one of my favourite products for 2014, and rightly so. This has the most luxurious thick texture, yet spreads so easily across the skin. You don't need much, it absorbs fairly quickly without any residue, but moisturises just perfectly. It has a faint clean scent, and helps the skin look even and really healthy. This is expensive stuff, but I will definitely be buying another.

Fushi Organic Rosehip Oil 100ml ( review here )
I've written about this a thousand times - still love it, still using it and still re-purchasing it!

Biotherm Lait Corporel Anti-Drying Body Milk 125ml ( here )
This is a lotion I've been going back to on and off since I was very young - and I still do, and still will. I'm all out of this now, including the generous samples Biotherm always gives, so I will probably be buying the big pump bottle in the near future. This is one of those products I like to pretty much always have at hand.

La Prairie Midnight Rain Body Veil 50ml ( here )
This is a nice enough body lotion, but nothing special. It does smell like the Midnight Rain perfume, but that's all that's special about it. For the price, I'd rather buy a lot of other body lotions, creams and butters, and instead just spray on a bit of extra Midnight Rain perfume.

Lush Hot Toddy Shower Gel 250g ( limited edition )
I was so pleased with 'So White' I decided to try Lush's 'Hot Toddy' as well. Semi-mistake. It's ok, but the smell is quite overpowering to me and didn't really remind me much of christmas at all. I also found it a bit drying. Not something I'll ever buy again, but I'm happy I decided to buy the 500ml size of 'So White'.

La Prairie Cellular Mineral Exfoliant hand made sample here )
I've written about this before; this is soo good! It's incredibly expensive for a body scrub, any body product really - but if the price is not a matter to you, then this is incredibly good stuff. It's very abrasive, bordering on hurting a little even, but it leaves the skin just incredibly soft. A little also goes a long way, so I'm actually considering buying the full size once I've gone through my body scrubs.

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream 50ml ( here )
This is a nice hand cream that I've used several times. This was a deluxe size that I've gotten a few times with a Caudalie purchase, and one I hope to get again. I've also bought the hand cream in the past. It's not the most heavy duty, but it's nice for use during the day.

Biotherm Biomains Age Delaying Hand & Nail Treatment 20ml ( here )
Another decent hand cream, and another deluxe size sample. This absorbs well and does the job, but is also not super heavy duty, and not enough for my hands to use before bed. It works very well during the day though.

John Masters Organics Scalp Deep Scalp Purifying Serum 59ml ( here )
This sounded like it would be the solution to all my "scalp needs" - it is, according to John Masters Organics themselves, supposed to soothe the scalp whilst also purifying it and keeping it from becoming oily. It did neither of those things. It actually did absolutely nothing. Except smell slightly of mint, like toothpaste. Just a overall highly disappointing product. Unfortunately this was my first product by the brand, and probably will be the last, at least for some time.

Fountain The Energy Molecule 240ml ( here )
Fountain is a pretty new concept of liquid supplements in many different colours, flavours and with different effects. This was sent as a PR sample for me to try, and I really did enjoy it. So much so that I've re-ordered it and a few other versions - review to come on all of them!

Landlord Antibakteriell Håndgele 100ml ( norwegian product )
This is just an antibacterial spray I like to keep on my makeup table to make sure everything is sanitary. I wash my hands as well of course, but this is nice to have in addition. I'm onto my next bottle.

Jason Healthy Mouth Anti-Cavity & Tartar Control Gel with Tea Tree Oil & Cinnamon 170g ( here )
Finally we have a Jason toothpaste. I mostly feature these because I know I was very on the fence about trying a natural toothpaste to begin with, but I've really been enjoying them and if anyone else isn't sure they about wether they work as well; they do!
