I didn't finish an incredible amount of stuff in February, but I finished quite a few things "naturally", meaning I finished them not because I tried to, but because I've used them up and enjoyed them. So there's quite a few goodies in this post. There's also a very evenly distributed type of products which is fun. I've also downsized some in February, not much, but I can tell you there will be a few makeup items getting thrown away in March as there are a couple already, but that's for next month!
Garnier Summerbody Moisturising Lotion Sun-Kissed Look Deep 250ml ( here )
I really like this, it was even featured in my 2014 Favourites! I apply this at night just as I would a normal body lotion, it takes a wee bit longer to dry, but not much. I go to bed and wake up to skin that is a bit more tan and looks really nice. No streaking, no patchy-ness and all without too much fuzz.
Lush So White Shower Gel 250g ( limited edition )
This smells delicious like freshly peeled apples! Unfortunately it contains sulphates which I am trying to avoid. The sulphates make this a tad drying on the skin, and I really wish it didn't have it, but it smells so good I just had to buy the 500ml bottle!
Caudalie Divine Oil 100ml ( here )
This smells gorgeous as well! The glass bottle is beautiful and has a texture to it that makes it easy to grip even with oil all over your hands. It has a spray pump that dispenses the oil evenly and the oil itself absorbs fairly quickly, whilst moisturising really well and giving the skin the most beautiful sheen. I've got a back-up I'm already onto and a mini, but once they are gone I will re-purchase again and again.
Jason Soothing 84% Aloe Vera Hand & Body Lotion 227g ( here )
This was terrible. This is actually full, but it's going right in the trash! I actually reacted to this! A 84% Aloe Vera lotion and I react to it! Almost immediately after applying this my skin got warm and red in patches. Now it could be that this has expired, but I'm not giving them a pass because of that, because I just bought it and started using it straight. I'm refusing to give companies any sort of pass on expired products, if they are sold to me that way. I feel like companies, especially those selling natural paraben-free products, should be on top of this making sure products are sold within a reasonably timeframe and then pull them back if they are not, in respect to their customers. Now, it could be that this is perfectly fine and I just had a reaction to it. Which I find incredibly odd as I've never reacted to a product like that, and the first one I should react to is an Aloe Vera lotion? Well, perhaps me and aloe vera just don't get a long. I don't know. I just know that I'm not going to ever be buying this again. I still love Jason though, just not their body lotions - I bought another one at the same time, and I don't like that either, but am trying to use it up as at least I'm not reacting to that one, I just don't like the smell. But more on that when that one's empty.
Molton Brown Mulberry & Thyme Hand Wash 300ml ( here )
This smells soo good! It's fresh and fruity, but a berry kind of fruity. Oh you'll have to just smell it yourselves, I'm terrible at describing scents, but this one is really, really good. The bottle also lasted me forever as you only need very little to get a good foam. I still haven't been able to find out if Molton Brown has sulphates in their products as they don't list ingredients on their website (so annoying!), so in case they do I want to stop using their products, but they smell so good and perform so well that I just seem to cave again and again.
Jason Purifying Tea Tree Pure Natural Hand Soap 473ml ( here )
I've decided to stop featuring these. I've made the move to using Jason hand washes in every room with a sink, except for the occasional Molton Brown appearance. I've featured every Jason hand wash in several empties post over the last year and some months, and so I don't feel there is a need to keep talking about them as they take up a lot of space in the empties "bin" and also it gets really repetitive. Plus I don't have a hand wash backup problem, so it's not something I'm trying to "use up" either. Until otherwise stated just assume I am still using and enjoying these. I will feature any other hand wash worth a mention though, such as any new Molton Brown hand wash purchase, which is bound to happen.
Biotherm Eau Pure Deodorant 75ml ( here )
This is really nice. I love Biotherm's original deodorant and have used it for years. I decided to try this 'Eau Pure' scent they released last summer and I think I'll buy another one this year as well. It just smells really clean and fresh, highly recommended.
Muji Peelable Cotton 85x60 ( not online)
Shiseido cotton's in Norway are just too darned expensive. I have to pay the equivalent to 7 dollars for just 60 which is just plain ridiculous. Especially when I can get this big pack from Muji for much less (can't remember the price exactly, and it's not listed on their website). These are also 100% cotton as far as I can tell from the words I can read on the packaging. They are also thick and easily peelable, so you get tonnes in here actually. They are just as soft as they Shiseido ones as well. Love these, and absolutely recommend these if you want to use some nicer cotton without breaking the bank!
Jason Nutrismile Antiplaque & Enamel Defense Orange, Cinnamon & Mint 119g ( here )
I was initially sceptic about how natural toothpastes would work, but am now a complete convert. These are much more gentle on the gums, whilst still keeping everything clean. I'v used different Jason toothpastes for I think a year now and would not go back to regular ones.
Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gioia Eau de Toilette 1.5ml ( here )
This smells really fresh and clean. It reminded me a bit of Marc Jacobs Dot and watermelons, even though that is not part of it's notes. It's a very nice fresh summer scent that I'm sure a lot of people would like, but not something I'll personally be rushing out to buy.
Aesop Classic Shampoo & Conditioner 50mlx2 ( here & here )
These two were part of a set I bought a while ago. I've used the two bottles up whilst travelling and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect too much on the haircare front by Aesop, but these were absolutely decent - cleaned my hair without being harsh at all, the conditioner left my hair soft and untangled and they smelled, of course, incredible!
La Mer Creme de La Mer 30ml ( review - here )
Another empty tub of La Mer! I love this stuff, as you may have noticed. I've already got another one, I went for the 60ml this time, cause I might as well save a few bucks as I'm gonna keep using it anyway. I've not opened the new one however, as I'm trying to use up another night cream I've had open since fall and some samples before that.
Biotherm Skin Vivo Nuit 15ml ( here )
Speaking of, I opened this sample after I finished my La Mer. I finished it at the very start of February, so pretty much used Skin Vivo Nuit almost all of last month. This was nice. It has a nice clean scent, it's nurturing and my skin didn't lack in moisture. I'd consider buying this if it was a bit cheaper, but for the price point there are many others I prefer, La Mer being one of them.
REN Vita Mineral Daily Supplement Moisturising Cream 50ml ( review - here )
I love this stuff. This is my second or third tube of it and I've got two backups ready to go (there was a good deal going so I bought two cause why not). This is thicker so if you've got oily skin this probably isn't for you, as a day cream at least. However, my skin isn't dry just normal/dehydrated and this works brilliantly as a day cream under makeup without me looking like an oily mess. If you've got super oily skin I'd recommend this as a night treatment as it's not super heavy, but has a lot of good nurturing ingredients that can really benefit any skin type.
Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet 10ml ( review - here )
Another day cream I used up, I've previously gone through one or two of the full-size of this as well. The Moisturising Sorbet is a lightweight very nice, very basic moisturiser. It also moisturises well without being greasy or oily and just makes skin comfortable, whilst also working great under makeup. I will probably buy this again at some point as well.
Caudalie Polyphenol15 Overnight Detox Oil 1ml ( here )
I've used quite a few samples of this and I love it each time. I've got way too many serums and oils at the moment, but was it not for that this would already be ordered and on it's way to me a long time ago. It smells really good, is super nourishing and by next morning skin looks and feels radiant, moisturised and balanced.
Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Emulsion II (Moist) 7ml ( here )
Sensai is such a popular brand here in Norway and soo many people use this day cream. It comes in three varieties, with the moisturising levels varying, and all come on sleek beautiful pump bottles. I'll say that this is nice, but I just don't find it all that special. I feel like I'm missing something, but I've got another sample or two that I'll try as well.
Kanebo Sensai Cellular Performance Life Remodelling Eye Cream 2ml ( here )
This, however, is a very good Sensai product! I can't say I noticed any immediate lifting effects the two-three weeks I was using this, but it did leave the skin around my eyes very well moisturised. I have drier skin under my eyes and need thick creams to use overnight, and this did the job very well I will say.
Juvena Skin Specialists Skin Nova SC Serum 5ml ( here )
This was ok, I guess. I didn't notice any results of any kind except it helped whatever I put on top blend and absorb better. Not something I'll be buying.
Eve Lom Cleanser 30ml ( here )
I received this in a LookFantastic Beauty Box in the fall which was super exciting as I've heard so much about this over the years (as I'm sure you all have too) and have always wanted to try it. I'll say I really loved it as I was using it. It smells amazing, it felt really good on the skin and my skin felt nice and clean, but not stripped, after washing it off. Since I finished this at the beginning of February however, I've moved onto some other cleansing balms that I think I do prefer. I might buy this at some point, but it's not feeling like the absolute must I thought it was while I was using it.
Korres Antispot Hand Cream with Organic Almond Oil & Vitamin C SPF 15 75ml ( here )
This is a very nice hand cream perfect for use during the daytime. It absorbs quickly without leaving any residue or greasy feeling, it has a non-offensive "clean scent" and the added super bonus of SPF 15. I've moved onto a Supergoop handcream with SPF 37 which is even better so I'll be sticking to that (for the higher SPF only), but should that be unavailable for whatever reason, this would be a great second choice. Overall I think this is still a better hand cream than my new one, I just want the SPF to be as high as possible!
Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm 15g ( here )
I've been slowly trying to use up all of my lip balms for a while and am now getting to the end of almost all of them at the same time. For February I finished two, but there will be at least two more in my March empties as well! Nuxe's Reve de Miel has received almost cult status in the beauty community since Lisa Eldridge mentioned it as one of her "french pharmacy favourites" a while back, and with good reason. This is a very good lip balm with a almost silicone-feel, which leaves the lips more matte, which makes for a good base for coloured lip products to go on top. This is my second tub of this that I've finished, and I'll probably buy another one.
Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm Lemon SPF 25 7g ( here )
Another classic. I really like this as well. It smells really nice, like lemon cake, it really really does a great job of moisturising the lips and doesn't do that thing of "sitting on top of the lips" whilst doing nothing. It also comes in a nice "squeezy-tube" which makes it more travel friendly. Overall a really good one as well and one I also wouldn't mind re-purchasing.
Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in 46 Lotus 2g ( here )
Spoiler alert; this is part of my "use it up project". I've been working on this for aages, and there wasn't that much left to begin with when I started focusing on it. Inititally I was using this only as a inner corner highlight, but it was only when I started using it as a face highlighter as well I started seeing good progress. Lotus is a very nice eyeshadow. It works well as an inner corner highlight, and is surprisingly beautiful as a face highlighter as well. I won't be re-purchasing for a while as I've just finished it and have tonnes of other eyeshadows I want to go through, but it's a nice eyeshadow, and was my collection smaller I would've probably considered a re-purchase.
Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in 0L Matte Black ( here )
I've been downsizing my eyeliners like crazy the past year and am down to very few. I don't really use black eyeliner pencils, so this one had been sitting for a while until I decided this year to finally finish it off. As I've found with a lot of the products I decide to focus on, eventually you find a good way to use most products, and start enjoying it. Same thing happened with this. Towards the end though it wouldn't sharpen to a point anymore, which made it hard for me to make a nice line, so I did decide to call it quits before it was completely used up. I am now down to just one black eyeliner I think, coincidentally it's this one again (I received it as a gift). This isn't something I'd run to re-purchase on my own as I do still prefer liquid or cream eyeliner, but I don't hate pencil eyeliner anymore, which is nice.
Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen 01 Deeper ( here )
Now this is an absolute favourite! This has two sides - one longer and thicker, the other side very short, thin and with a fine point. I love using this. I'd create the outlines of the line with the thicker side, and then do the inner corner and flick with the small one. It's also a really deep black that lasts the whole day. No smudging, no flaking and no fading. I will absolutely buy this again.
Maybelline ColorSensational in 445 Mango Diamonds ( here )
I'm kind of going through my collection regularly and getting rid of something here and there. This time around this one didn't make the cut. There's nothing wrong with it. I've really loved it and used it quite a bit actually. It's just I don't wear this shade too often, only in the summer, and this is really similar to a Lancome lipstick I have. I will only be able to get through one this summer, and I don't want to have both for another year on, so I decided to get rid of this one, and focus on the Lancome as soon as the weather allows. For a mini review on this lipstick, I will say it's an absolutely ok formula. It's not drying, has good colour payoff and lasted pretty alright. It's nothing spectacular, but if you are on a budget or want to try a new shade you don't know if you'll end up using much, finding a colour in this formula is definitely a good option.
