Favourites: March 2015
Spring is finally officially here! The snow has almost all disappeared in Oslo and while it's still not super warm, I've been enjoying the milder weather with some long walks around town with my boyfriend. I'm about to head up to the cabin to celebrate easter with my family, but thought I'd do a quick post about my March favourites before I go!
It's weird how makeup preferences suddenly change, but the last month I've been really into cream shadows with just a powder shadow through the crease with some depth. I've been especially obsessed with the combination of the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in 'Moonlight' ( here ) and the darker shade of the Nars Eyeshadow Duo in 'Portobello' ( here ). It's a bit darker than I usually go for, but with a strong brow and pale skin I think it looks really cool. It's also super quick and easy, plus it lasts all day. If you haven't got both or either one of these two I urge you to check them out, the quality is top notch!
Scent of the month has to go to a classic in my collection - Elie Saab 'Le Parfum' ( here ). It's a heavier floral, perfect for this time of the year. I don't find it too strong personally, though I know some do, so I guess this is one of those perfumes that people will feel very differently about. It's got notes of African Orange Flower, Patchouli, Jasmine, White Honey, Rose and Cedar. I've been obsessed with this scent since it got released and still find it just as intoxicating. I'm currently about halfway through the bottle, but this is one I'd repurchase the same day I run out.
I decided on a whim to buy one of the most ridiculously overpriced sunscreens around - the La Mer The Broad Spectrum SPF 50 UV Protection Fluid ( here ). My skin has been looking and feeling a bit dehydrated. None of my day creams provide quite enough moisture at the moment, and my heavier creams tend to make me too shiny throughout the day. This SPF has been my saviour. It's thicker, but not heavy, and gives the skin a beautiful healthy glow. Not oily glow, just healthy glow. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with oily skin, but if you want a bit of extra moisture this is really good. It leaves no white cast and that beautiful 'La Mer Glow' (you'll know what I mean if you use the classic moisturiser) makes the skin look incredible without any makeup as well.
Finally I have two of the new Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-in-Oil in '1 Drive Me Copper' ( here ) & '5 Cherry My Cherie' ( here ). These are amazing! I've read reviews where people wonder what happened to the tint, so I think the lighter colours won't have the same effect. These however, really tint the lips. The pink one is insane, it gives the most amazing super glossy bright bubblegum pink lips. The oil texture also feels amazing if you've got dry lips. I highly highly recommend these, but do make sure you get the darker colours!
