This months empties is full of a lot of skincare favourites, perfume samples and quite a bit of makeup in terms of mascara. I've got one month left of the year and am focusing really hard on everything that has just a bit left to get some really good numbers for the year total. For now though, here are the products I finished in November.
Ole Henriksen The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths Brightening 30 cloths ( here )
I don't typically use cleansing wipes and I don't recommend them as they are a bit harsh on the skin. However, I was travelling quite a few times the past two months so decided to finally try these out, as they've received so much rave over the years. I have to admit, I see what the hype is about. As far as cleansing wipes go, these are probably the best I've ever used (and I have used quite a few, as they were my go-to for makeup removal prior to discovering Bioderma). I also feel it did have a bit of a brightening effect on the skin. If I ever feel like another pack of cleansing wipes these will definitely be the ones I'll go for.
OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel 100ml ( here )
I love this. If you want to use a cleansing balm, but can't get used to how thick the are and/or hate using a flannel to wipe it off and find it all a bit much - then get this. This is just as good for massaging and cleansing the skin, and it comes off easily with just a bit of water. I really want to buy another one after I've finished more of my "back stock". I just realised I haven't written a review on this, I thought I had, so I'll make sure to post one this month while it's still fresh in my memory.
Caudalie Beauty Elixir 30ml ( review - here )
A long-time favourite of mine. This small one I usually carry around with me in my purse, though mostly during the summer time for some mid-day refreshing. This was kind of just lurking around with almost nothing left so I decided to finish it off this month. This helps my makeup look more natural, helps provide a nice glow to my skin and is great for the aforementioned refreshing mist when the weather is warmer. No doubt I'll buy another bottle of this.
Creme de La Mer La Mer Moisturizing Cream 60ml ( review - here )
Any long-time readers of my blog will already be well acquainted with my love for this moisturiser. Expensive, yes, but it works absolute wonders for my skin. This has been my only night cream for a few years now, and I won't buy anything else.
Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial 15ml ( review - here )
This is another favourite product of mine. This is a retinol treatment in an oil that also hydrates and treats the skin in almost ever way. I apply this in place of both a serum and moisturiser and every time I use it I wake up to glowing, balanced and hydrated skin. Will definitely buy again.
REN Vita Mineral Daily Supplement Moisturising Cream 50ml ( review - here )
There's a lot of favourites lined up this month, and this is another one. This is a lighter day cream that moisturises really well, making it perfect for my normal/dehydrated skin. If you've got oily skin I think this would be too much for you. This has loads of different treats for you skin, one of which is my favourite rosehip oil. Definitely one to check out if you've got anywhere from normal to dry skin.
La Prairie Cellular Power Charge Night 5ml & 1ml ( here )
I've been using the larger tube of his for a while and have really enjoyed it. It's quite interesting as it has two different products in one - a blue gel and a yellow cream. You mix the two together to activate it and apply it to the skin. It's basically a retinol treatment, and a really good one. Each time I use it by next morning my skin is plump, even and balanced. You can use cheaper retinols, there are really good ones, like the Indeed Labs Retinol Reface, but this really is a bit better. I'm not sure if I'll shell out the money for the full size of this, but I'll say I'm happy I've still got some samples left to keep using for a few more weeks.
Kanebo Sensai Silky Bronze Cellular Protective Cream for Face SPF 30 3.5ml ( here )
This is a decent sunscreen, but it didn't wow me, and for the price they are asking for this, it should be damned special. I'm not one that won't shell out for a good sunscreen, the La Mer one is one of my all-time favourites, but there's just nothing special about this at all.
Clarins Extra-Firming Body Cream 100ml ( here )
This is really good. It's a lotion, but it's really thick and very moisturising. In terms of firming action, it does help you get rid of whatever extra water weight you are carrying, but I doubt it does anything long-term. Either way it's good for some instant firming action, and it's a very good body lotion as well, so one I'd definitely recommend checking out.
The Body Shop Hand Cream in Pink Grapefruit 30ml & Wild Argan Oil 30ml ( here )
I buy these mostly as they are good hand bag sizes. The hand cream itself isn't the best quality - it's a tad greasy and doesn't moisturise too well. It does absorb though, and they both smell really nice, so I enjoy them and will probably keep buying them now and then.
Fröjd af Sverige Eucalyptus Sage Scented Candle ( here )
I loved this. It smells just like Christmas and so I've loved burning it this past month. I just might re-purchase it to burn through December and the beginning of January as well. This isn't really a candle that most of you can get a hold of I think. It's widely sold in interior shops here in Norway, or Oslo at least, but I'd be surprised if you can find it anywhere else. If you do spot it somewhere though, or you live in Scandinavia, I'd urge you to have a sniff at their selection. They are good quality candles and pretty reasonably priced as well - at least compared to Diptyqe, Cire Trudon and so on.
Fountain The Super Green Molecule 240ml ( here )
My final Fountain supplement from when I stocked up in a sale I can't remember when was. I'm still not entirely sure of the effects, but I've missed these in the mornings since using this one up, so I've ordered quite a few from Lookfantastic during the black friday/cyber monday sales.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer 30ml ( review - here )
Finally for the most exciting part - empty makeup products! First off we have a primer by Smashbox. This is a long-time favourite of mine. It's super easy, works with pretty much every foundation or base product I have (and I have them in all kinds of formulas and finishes). It helps cover lines and pores better and keeps makeup on for longer. All the things you want a primer to do. I'll definitely buy another tube of this at some point.
Dior Addict Crystal Gloss in 037 6.3ml ( gift with purchase )
I really liked this gloss as it's got a bit of a gel formula and felt light on the lips, but also a bit moisturising. I don't think they actually make this product, it was a gift with purchase, but if they do I'd love to buy one again.
Dior Diorshow Maximiser Lash Plumping Serum 10ml ( here )
This won't give you as long lashes as using one of those growth serums will, but if you for whatever reason can't or don't want to use those, this is a great second option. I've definitely noticed my lashes growing longer than otherwise when using this. That, plus the instant effect it gives as it makes your lashes look instantly thicker and longer when you apply mascara on top of it. I've loved this for years and there's no doubt I'll buy another tube of this.
Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl 10ml ( review - here )
My favourite mascara. No question, and has been for quite a while now. This does everything - lengthening, plenty of volume, curls the lashes, and all of that without clumping or smudging or flaking or anything. At least not on me. It also doesn't dry out quickly, and I've always been able to use it for the full 3 months. Definitely the one mascara I recommend above all others.
I finished quite a few mascara samples this month. I didn't really use them up, but I've had them for a while and they were a bit dried out and I was a little bit uncomfortable using them. I used them all for about a week except for one of the Guerlain ones, which was really dried out so I only used it for 2 or 3 days.
Lancome Hypnose Star 2ml ( here )
I've had the full size of this and wasn't very impressed. I enjoyed it more this time around. It gives nice, fluttery lashes and adds a bit of volume, so overall nice.
Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara 2.8ml ( here )
This is a really good volume mascara. It also lengthens and is buildable. It has a big natural bristle brush. I've never owned the full size, but have gone through plenty of samples and always enjoyed it.
Guerlain Maxi Lash x 2 ( review - here )
I've owned a full size of this in the past as well, and I do like it, but I don't absolutely love it, like I love the Dior Overcurl. This gives a bit of length, a bit of volume, but nothing too much of either. If you love a very natural look with natural looking lashes, then this will do just what you want. If you like a lot more dramatic lashes then you'll probably not love this.
Lancome La Vie Est Belle Eau de Parfum ( here )
I wanted to focus on using up a lot of perfume samples this month to get my numbers down as we are approaching the end of the year, and as you can see I was quite successful. I've made a point out of using up the sachet samples instantly as they are ridiculous to keep around for long. One of the sachet samples I finished was of the La Vie Est Belle Perfume by Lancome, which I already know I love. I have the full size and I use it a lot. It's sweet, but with a lot of personality still. Some of the main notes are praline, vanilla and patchouli. All notes I tend to love, so it's no wonder I enjoy this scent so much.
Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum ( here )
Another vanilla based fragrance, that I, no surprise, also really like. I don't find this perfume as interesting as the La Vie Est Belle, but if that one didn't exist I'd be more inclined to buy this one. Among the notes in this are the aforementioned vanilla, coffe, jasmine and two of my favourite notes; orange blossom and patchouli again.
Cartier Declaration Eau de Toilette 1.5ml ( here )
This is actually a mens fragrance, but I really liked it so I used it myself anyway. It's not overly masculine, and while it's stronger and definitely not sweet, I found it to be very sophisticated and lovely. Among it's notes are cardamom, which is my favourite part of this perfume. It's such a particular scent, but very different to any other perfumes I wear.
Prada Candy Eau de Parfum x 7 ( here )
I used up all my samples of this now classic gourmand fragrance. I didn't use them all up really, as a few had the spritzer broken (nothing would come out). Either way I really love this. It's got notes of caramel, benzoin, musk, powdery notes and vanilla. It's simple, but really beautiful, sweet and sophisticated. If you like gourmand scents, then you definitely need to give this one a whiff.
