Favourites: February 2016

It always amazes me how much shorter February seems, even with just a few days less. It felt shorter this year as well, even with an extra day. My month has been nice overall. We had a bit of nice weather, before winter came back with a vengeance. The days are much sunnier, and I get to see some sunlight on my way to and from work so that is a really nice change. I've worn makeup leaning towards pink or purple tones, and I can feel I am definitely ready for spring to come for real.

While I'm still not doing a project pan (but thinking of starting one soon) I have been making a point of rotating through my makeup, which includes face powders as I have quite a lot of them. This month I rotated in the Guerlain Meteorites Illuminating Powder in 03 Medium here ) and was reminded of all the reasons I loved it in the first place. It gives a beautiful sheen to the skin that looks really natural. The different colours helps brighten, give a glow, reduce dull-ness and give a bit of an ethereal glow. It's stunning.

With me being in a bit of a "spring-mood" I've found myself being pulled towards more floral scents. Elie Saab Le Parfum Eau de Parfume here ) is one of my all-time favourites and is floral, but still a bit heavier. It has notes of orange flower, jasmine, honey, patchouli, rose and cedar. The Elie Saab perfumes are one of my favourite overall range of perfumes, and in an alternate universe I own all of them.

As I mentioned I've been into the rosy and purple tones in my makeup, and this of course includes eye shadows. I've been really good at rotating through my collection so have used several options to achieve the look, but two of my favourites were the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock here ) and the Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Desdemona here ).

Desdemona I've used to deepen the outer v for night time looks and it's so beautiful! It's not matte at all, but it still works. The complexity makes a a darker purple smokey eye look incredible. I love pairing it with Chanel New Moon and this has become my go-to for when I'm going out or doing anything special.

The Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock is a "pinky-brown" shade. It's hard to explain, but it does have the same colour theme as New Moon, though they are different. It's an absolutely stunning way to wear pink tones without wearing pink. Beyond that the formula is incredible - lasts all day, and is a beautiful high-impact shimmer. If you have yet to check out the Ombre Blackstar sticks you really should!

Finally I have two skincare items. One I've loved and used before and one is completely new to me from a new brand to me as well. The Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm reviewhere ) is a previous favourite I've returned to. This time I bought the mega 200ml tub and I am so happy I decided to make the splurge. The texture of this is amazing. It's thick enough to massage across the skin without it absorbing, but also easy to get off. It's not greasy. Being easy to get off with a wet flannel makes this the perfect cleansing balm for my sensitive skin.

Finally I have the Vitamin C Anti Aging Serum by Maple Holistics ( here ). Maple Holistics generously sent me a few item in the fall, and I've finally gotten around to using the Vitamin C serum (as I finished my other vitamin c serum last month). I love this! It's what I'd describe as an oil/serum. It's oilier than a serum, but lighter than an oil. The results are amazing, it's one of the best vitamin serums I've tried. It's also completely natural! I'm so excited to tell you all about this in a full review.
