Review: Omorovicza Complexion Perfector BB in Light

Omorovicza is a brand I've really come to love over the past few years. The love affair started in New York when a really lovely sales assistant convinced me of trying the Queen of Hungary Mist and the Thermal Cleansing Balm, along with a few nice samples. I absolutely loved both products, and they are both products I've re-purchased since. After reading all the raves about their Complexion Perfector I knew I had to try it, here are my thoughts.

The accurately named Complexion Perfector comes housed in a beautiful glass bottle with a pump. I have no complaints about the packaging. It’s not super travel friendly, but for this price I appreciate something a bit nicer, and glass is nicer than plastic. The pump is also a good pump that doesn’t give you way too much or way too little. I use about half a pump to cover my entire face.

Texture-wise this is quite interesting. It’s kind of a mousse product. I take about half a pump on my hand and dab dots on my face with the product. I start by rubbing it into my skin and as I do that the product gets a bit lighter and it has that weird “mousse-y” texture. As I rub it into the skin though, it completely disappears. Intitially after application it basically does nothing for me. I look super pale, and like I’m not wearing any base product at all. So I go to do my eye-makeup, whilst letting it set. After it sets my colour comes back and I get some coverage from the product. It looks super natural, but like you have nothing on. This is the perfect quick-application product for days when you don’t want to bother, don’t want it to look like you bothered, but you would like a bit of complexion help.

This is definitely a very light coverage product. It is somewhat buildable, but only slightly. I say you can get it up to a light-medium, not medium, and that’s it. If you keep adding more product you’ll just end up with too much product on your face, but no more coverage than before. The trick to this is that it really is a complexion perfector. When I use this consistently my skin gets better and better. The first day I go back to this after using foundations with better coverage, the transition is always a bit woah.. But if I stick to it, after a few days I don’t need any more coverage. I put a light amount of this, concealer where I need it and I am good to go. That is partly from just adjusting to seeing myself with a lesser coverage base, but it’s also due to the ingredients being an absolute treat for my skin.

Among the ingredients are hyaluronic acid (to hydrate and smooth), vitamin C (to brighten and even skintone), white lupin (to energise and revitalize) and ruby crystals to minimise the appearance of imperfections and fine lines. I really do notice a difference in my skin when I use this everyday for at least a few days. Skin is noticeably more even toned and balanced, and as I use it more and more, the less coverage I need.

Using this consistently is basically the opposite of a dark circle, it just gets better, and better, and better. It's no wonder I have to kind of make myself use other things after getting hooked on this again. Of course, there are times when this will have nothing on a nice flawless base achieved with a more medium to medium/full coverage foundation, and I will never not have that on rotation as well, but for those other days when I don't feel like I need that, this is incredible both in how it feels on my skin as I wear it, and how my skin looks better and better every evening after taking it off.

Overall this is one of my favourite base products. Yes it’s wildly expensive, but I notice such amazing results, it feels so good on my skin and looks so natural I haven’t ever used anything quite like it. Whilst painful, I will definitely buy another bottle of this. I can point out that this contains 50ml compared to the usual 30ml foundation sizes, which makes the price a bit more tolerable. Price aside, this is a really good product, and if you love a lighter base, or one that combines a lighter coverage with good skincare ingredients, this is definitely a product you should try.
