A long while back I was given a sample of the Aesop Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Treatment. It was amazing and I really wanted to buy the full size. When I went to Aesop I noticed there was a Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Serum, which contained 100ml of product (compared to just 15ml in the other one), and the Serum cost just approximatively 10pounds/dollars more. I decided to try the Serum instead. After all, how different could they be, right?
The serum comes in standard Aesop packaging. Dark brown glass with a minimal black and white label. It's quite a large bottle, a bit bigger than the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair, for those familiar with that one. It has a big dropper to fit the bottle made of clear glass and black plastic.
The texture of this serum is what makes it different, and the main reason I'm not in love with it. It's really sticky. It's sticky as I rub it between my fingers, even if just super gently. It's sticky as I apply it to my face, and it stays sticky until I put something else on top of it. I try to slightly rub it across the skin and pat it in, as this is the method I find makes it the least sticky, though still sticky. The consistency is the reason I use this only in the evenings, and never during the day. Even if I am just staying at home and not wearing any makeup, I just cannot deal with the feeling of it.
Besides the texture, the serum itself is a very nice boost of anti-oxidants and hydration. Aesop says this can be used in place of a moisturiser. That doesn't work for me, but I have dehydrated skin, so if you have oily skin perhaps that would work for you. Aesop also claim it gives a matte finish. I'd agree with that. Though sticky, it's definitely not greasy or oily.
When I use this overnight, my next morning results is skin that is balanced, but hydrated, glowing and overall healthy. It's not glowing like a vitamin C treatment or an exfoliation mask would give, but there's some glow none the less. I mostly use this for the anti-oxidants, and love the slight hydration it gives. It's not a must-have, but it's nice still. Besides the sticky feel of it, I like that it absorbs quickly and works well with most moisturisers I put on top. I'd say buy this for an easy overnight boost of anti-oxidants, which is especially beneficial if you live in more polluted areas, like a big city. It's also quite a great deal as you get a lot of serum for your money compared to most other serums out there, so if you'd like something a bit more affordable this could be a good buy.
