There's not that much exciting stuff this month. I actually didn't finish a lot of stuff. For me, at least. I did finish some makeup items, body care and some hair care, the latter being a very welcome edition to my empties as they take ages to finish. No full size skincare this month, which I think is a first. I didn't focus on using stuff up this past month, and wanted more to just use whatever I gravitated towards, which was nice, but I ended up with fewer empties. Lots of things are so close to being finished though, so they will be in next months' empties instead.
Lancome Hydra Zen Nuit 15ml ( here )
I've had some deluxe samples of this and the day cream for ages, and I'm not even sure they make it anymore. I've also used the full size, for quite a few years, back in my early twenties. It's a lovely moisturiser with a gorgeous scent that is soothing, nothing too heavy, but still moisturises quite well.
Sensai Silky Purifying Cleansing Oil 8ml ( here )
This is a nice cleansing oil, but not as good as my favourite by Aesop, and not much better than The Body Shop's much cheaper version.
Clarins Toning Lotion with Chamomile 10ml ( here )
This is a nice toner. I am currently using a mega-size of this. It's nothing insanely fantastic, but it's gentle, soothing, balances the skin and does all the things a basic toner should do.
Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Eye and Lip Cream 2ml ( here )
This is one of the best eye creams I've tried. I've used so many samples of this, as it seems Guerlain is always giving them away. I'm not surprised, as it's a really good product that I'm sure a lot of people end up buying after trying. It's really hydrating, gives a radiance to the eye area, all without being super heavy. You can use this during the day as well as night, as I doubt this would interfere with makeup. Definitely a recommendation.
Fountain The Hyaluronic Molecule 240ml ( here )
Out of all of the Fountain supplements I've tried by now, and I've tried most of them, this one has given the most visible no-question definitive results. I've used this mainly through the winter months, and finished it just now. This kept my skin moisturised so well. And my body. If I hadn't been drinking enough water, or had more than enough wine, this would keep my skin, and body, in much better shape. If used every day my skin would start to be more oily, so I would steer clear of that. If you've got really dry or dehydrated skin, this just might be your new best friends. This gets a definite recommendation from me, and is something I will absolutely buy again to get me through next winter.
The Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes 25 Wipes ( here )
These were ok, but far too dry for my liking. I'm not familiar with Body Shops wipes, nor have I used this particular one before, so I'm not sure if this was a dud, or if they are always on the drier side. Product-wise I found it to be fairly efficient, but I really need wipes to be more wet as I find they pull on the skin too much otherwise, especially the eyes.
COOLA Sport SPF 45 Classic Sunscreen Unscented Moisturizer 148ml ( here )
This was okay, but started breaking my skin out this past month so I decided to get rid of it, obviously. It's a bit thicker than I like and even if my skin didn't react to it , it's not something I'd buy again. Strangely, I tried one of the scented versions in the past, and that was much lighter in texture and worked better with my skin. I bought the unscented version as I thought it would be kinder to my skin, but strangely it wasn't so.
Hand Chemistry Heel Chemistry 100ml ( here )
This is fantastic! It hydrates and softens the skin on my feet really well, without being overly greasy or leaving any residue. I've gone through many tubes of this, will buy again at some point, but I've moved onto a different product not, due to only curiosity.
Roger & Gallet Crème Sublime Bois d'Orange SPF 15 Hands & nails cream 30ml ( here )
I love this mainly for the SPF, and the not-too-high price tag. It doesn't hydrate too well, just a bit, but it does sink in really quickly and it protects the hands from ageing due to sun exposure, so I still love it and will continue to buy. I've lost count of how many of these I've been through now.
The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Cream 30ml ( here )
No SPF in this one, but a really good hand cream still. It hydrates really well, but has a super light texture and absorbs quickly, leaving no residue behind. A fabulous hand cream, I will definitely buy it again.
Living Proof Full Conditioner 236ml ( here )
This was fine. I feel it did give my hair a bit more volume, but not too much, and not so much that I can be 100% that it was down to this, and not just a good hair day. It didn't moisturise my ends enough to use as my one and only conditioner, which I know is kind of why volumising conditioners work, but in the end it just wasn't the best match for my hair. Nothing bad, by any means, and it's decent and one I wouldn't not use again if I had the chance, but I just probably won't buy it again.
Björn Axén Nourishing Conditioner for Coarse Hair 10ml & Strenghtening Conditioner for Fine Hair 10ml ( couldn't find it available online with international shipping )
I've never used any full size items by Björn Axén, but have received a lot of sachet samples like this and used quite a few of them. They are decent, definitely. The textures are good - conditioners thick, shampoos lather nicely. It's nothing that's wowed me to the point of wanting to go buy it, but if I was in need of shampoo today and was in a store they sell it, I wouldn't mind buying a shampoo and conditioner by the brand. The products are nice.
Sensai Shidenkai Volumising Shampoo & Conditioner 12ml x 2 ( here & here )
I've used a full size of this shampoo and I didn't like it. The conditioner isn't that great either. The shampoo tends to dry my hair out, and the conditioner does nothing to condition. Again, I understand the light nourishment of volumising conditioners is kind of the point, but it just doesn't work for my long hair, with ends that need more. If you have ends that aren't dry, you would probably enjoy this pair more than me.
Lernberger Stafsing Conditioner for Coloured Hair 10ml ( couldn't find it anywhere with international shipping either )
Finally I have a conditioner by Lernberger Stafsing. This was quite nice. Hydrated well enough and had a nice thicker texture, meaning it didn't just disappear into my hair. My feelings on this is about the same as for the Björn Axén stuff - nice, wouldn't mind it, won't go out of my way to buy it.
Lancome Ô de L'Orangerie 7.5ml ( here )
This is a nice fresh citrus-scent. It has notes of african orange flower, citruses, jasmine, orange, bergamot, cedar and benzoin. It's fresh, but with a bit of character. Perfect for warm summer days.
Michael Kors Sporty Citrus ( here )
This is another citrusy scent, but it's definitely more generic than the Lancome one. It has just 4 notes, and those are orange, orange blossom, mandarin and musk. All ingredients I enjoy, orange blossom especially, but for me it ends up a bit to anonymous.
Maison Martin Margiela Replica Beach Walk Eau de Toilette 1.2ml ( here )
When I first smelled this about 3 years ago, I really loved it. I've since then found I don't as much. It's a bit much, a bit overpowering, and a bit too sweet, but not in the way I like sweet perfumes to be. It's a bit sickening to be honest, which I think is down to the very heavy use of coconut milk as an ingredient. I did use to enjoy it though, so I'm not sure what happened. Perhaps if I try the other sample I have in the fall I might enjoy it again, that happens sometimes. The notes are coconut milk, ylang-ylang, musk, heliotrope, lemon, pink pepper and bergamot.
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-2 5.92g ( here )
I've been trying to use this up for a while, and I got pretty close, but it's just gotten too dry. I've used the orange/salmon colour as an undereye corrector and the other one for blemishes and imperfections on the face. It's a great product, definitely, and if I didn't have so many concealers I'd consider getting it again, though I have to admit I probably wouldn't. It's nothing due to the product itself being bad, it's just something a bit more time consuming than just swiping on a concealer stick, pen or whatever type of applicator. For that reason I probably won't buy this again, but it was a really nice product, definitely. Covered well, long lasting and natural looking.
Loréal Telescopic Mascara ( here )
This is the second tube of the Telescopic Mascara I've gone through since being so impressed with my first one just prior to this one. For some reason, this one didn't perform as well. I find it didn't have the same "oomph" as the last one. At least not at first. After it dried out a bit it performed better. I still love the mascara, no doubt, and will probably buy again at some point, but I am currently trying something else.
Kaplan MD LIP 20 Moisture Therapy & SPF in Sheer Rosewood Shine ( here )
I love this lipstick and am sad it's done, but happy I finished it while it was still good, and didn't have to end up throwing half of it away. It has a lip balm in it's center, making it a super comfortable and hydrating type of sheer lipstick. The colour is beautiful - a slightly red tinted brown, a brick colour. If I, no when I, finally pare down my lipstick collection to something I feel is a bit more manageable, and feel more comfortable with, this is definitely something I want to re-purchase.
