Favourites: July 2016

July was almost entirely a holiday month for me and while I'm sad it's over, part of me is actually quite happy to get back into my routines and feel a bit productive again. I went to Barcelona for my main holiday this year, and I absolutely loved it. I am definitely going back and if you haven't been yet, I absolutely recommend it, it's an amazing city! For my favourites for the past month there's some new products, some I've talked about in the past, and some I've just written reviews on. Keeping with the summer theme - these are all either bronzy warm shades of makeup, something with SPF, or of course just a light wonderful summery perfume.

First off I have my current favourite sunscreen; the Bioderma Photoderm SPOT SPF50+ ( review - here )  I did just write a review on this, but felt I still had to include it. You can check out the full review for more information if you are interested, but in short it's fast absorbing, doesn't leave a white cast and doesn't block pores or irritate my skin. It also comes in a super handy 30ml size which makes it perfect for travel, and this is what I took with me when I went to Barcelona.

I've had my Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder in 40 ( here ) for a while, but fell in love with it this month. I use this as a bronzer and it's gorgeous! The powder blends seamlessly into the skin and gives the most flattering natural glow. If you are looking for a bronzing powder that is matte and really natural, give these a try in whatever shade is one or two shades darker than your skintone, depending on the effect you are after.

The next item is a bit of a cult classic; Nars Blush in Luster ( here ). I had completely forgotten about this, until I was rummaging through my makeup one day last month and came upon it. This has been one of my favourite blushes for a long time, since buying it years ago really, and still is after taking it out and using it again. I have basically not used anything else since getting it back out again. If you love warm tones in your makeup and blush, then you really need to check this out. It looks a bit scary and overly orange in the pan, but on the cheeks it transforms to the most natural warm flush of colour.

Now for a brand new item in my collection; the Armani Eye Tint in 9 Cold Copper ( here ).  I've seen raves about this and wanted to try it for absolutely ages but have put it off time and time again. I finally decided to just finally try one after reading yet another post about it over at Joyce's blog here . I got the shade 9 and it's been the perfect lid colour. It's a very understated colour that gives a bit of a champagne bronzed sheen to the lid. I've even worn it when I've worn no other makeup, as it brings a bit of luminosity to the eye area. Beyond the colour being perfect, the formula is fantastic - once it's on it stays put all day.

The final makeup item for July is another product I've just written a glowing review about, the Chantecaille Protection Naturelle SPF 46 PA+++ Powder ( review - here ). Just like with the Bioderma, I felt I still needed to feature it in my favourites post as I've used it so much the past month. Like I wrote in my review, this is amazing for topping up SPF over makeup on especially long days out in the sun. It's also great to lightly dust over my skin for some extra protection even when I am not wearing makeup, as it slightly mattifies the skin, but is entirely undetectable on the skin.

Finally I have my token perfume of the month and this month it's one I feature every summer; Bond No 9 Union Square ( here ). I bought this when I was on holiday in New York three summers ago, and still the scent always brings me back. It's a gorgeous fresh floral and one of my all-time favourite scents. It has notes of freesia, musk, grass, lily-of-the-valley, birch and amber.
