Review: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in 'Bow N Arrow' & 'Double Dare'

I've always wanted to try some Kat Von D makeup, especially with all the constant raves about her products. The brand has not previously been available in Europe, so imagine my excitement when I spotted it in Sephora in Barcelona this summer! I've heard it's about to release in the UK soon as well, so fingers crossed it'll be readily available all over Europe soon enough. For now I've bought two of her infamous liquid lipsticks and cult-favourite Shade & Light Eyeshadow Palette. This time I'll be talking about the liquid lipsticks.

While the 26 shade offerings in the range (at last count) include a lot of very different and unique shades, I decided to stick to more neutral tones that I knew I would get a lot of wear out of. Bow N Arrow is a matte brown with a slight taupey rosey leaning, meaning it doesn't look just brown on the lips. Double Dare is a muted brown red. Both are completely matte.

While the colours are lovely, what sets this apart is the formula. I've previously tried, and mostly decluttered, liquid lipsticks, as I found they never looked just right on me. They just ended up looking a bit odd, or would start to peel off as soon as I started simply talking. These are different.

I apply this very carefully to the edges of my lips, and then fill in the rest, one lip at a time. I then proceed to move my lips as little as possible while the lipstick dries. After that, this stays put for as long as I let it. It doesn't budge unless there's oil involved, then it's gone, but it's so easy to re-apply I don't mind. If I don't have a bite to eat though, the lipstick doesn't go anywhere. Not even onto whatever glass I'm sipping on, which is probably my favourite part. I hate it when my lipstick starts smudging everywhere, especially at someones dinner party.

I'm absolutely sold on this formula. When I've used up some more red lipsticks, this is definitely the formula I will be buying more red lipsticks in. While it's tempting to go for everyday colours, this is definitely a formula I feel it's not silly to buy more daring colours in. I say this, because I know I often skip red lipstick as it's such a fuss to keep re-applying and bringing a lip liner and the whole shebang. With this you only need an extra few seconds, but nothing but the one product. And once it's on, it's on. I absolutely get what all the hype is about, and will definitely be adding more shades to my "collection" the next time I'm somewhere Kat Von D is available. Though hopefully, it'll be available in Norway soon!
