Review: Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Eye Concentrate

After trying my first ever eye serum - Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Eye, I was instantly hooked. The difference was amazing and I re-purchased it for years. It was only after finishing my latest bottle I decided I wanted to try something else, if nothing else just to have something to compare the Estée Lauder one to.

The packaging on this is beautiful. It's a beauiful bright red to silver gradient. Beyond just the looks, it's plastic, but good plastic. The cap has a really nice click sound when it closes which makes it feel really securely on and something I would be able to easily take with me travelling. It also has a nice pump that doesn't give too much product.

Texture-wise it's a thin semi-clear cream that goes on completely clear and melts into the skin almost instantly. I apply this under my eyes, om the browbone and dab whatever is left outwards towards my temples to prevent crowsfeet. I always apply an eye cream on top of this, day and night, after letting it absorb a bit.

Now for a bit about what this is supposed to do. Shiseido calls this a boosting pre-treatment that defends against multiple signs of aging and damage. It enhances the skins power to resist and prevent damage. It "is formulated with Bulgarian Rose Water, Aqua In Pool and Yeast to help protect and strengthen skin against damage and signs of aging." A "powerful botanical blend of Gingko Biloba Leaf Extract, Shiso and Thyme maintains a healthy skin surface and protects against impurities." All this according Shiseido's own website.

While it's a bit difficult to tell for sure wether my skin had gotten stronger or better at defending itself, I will tell you the things I have definitely noticed.

The skin around my eyes look more healthy, plump and radiant. This in turn makes me look a lot more awake and well-rested. I have no dark circles, down from very minor, hardly noticeable dark circles before. More impressively I almost never have bags under my eyes anymore, which is something I am much more prone to. I also find whatever eye cream I use on top of this absorbs better and works better.

If that sounds like results you could benefit from I definitely recommend trying this.  I am really interested in trying the face version of this after being so happy with how this one worked. If you've yet to get on the eye serum bandwagon, this is definitely a great place to start!
