Review: La Prairie Purifying Cream Cleanser

When I bought this it was mostly for fun - to see how such an expensive cleanser, from what I find to often be quite a nice overall skincare brand, would compare to the now quite vast amount of other cleansers I've used. I didn't expect too much, a lot of cleansers are much of the same, but have to say I've been really impressed - this really is a great cleanser!

The Purifying Cream Cleanser comes in a shiny white "squeezy-tube" with a silver twist-off cap with 200ml/6.8 oz of product inside.. It has a nice weight to it and it feels of good quality. The material is quite soft, making it easy to get the product out. This might seem like an odd thing to point out, but if you've dealt with the "other kind" you'll know exactly what I'm getting at.

The cleanser is a nice white cream that has a light, but thick consistency that spreads really easily across the skin. It has a nice 'clean scent', reminiscent of the scent in other La Prairie products. It's not a strong scent in any way, so if you hate scented skincare in that it bothers your nose, then I doubt you'll have an issue with this one.

This feels incredibly light on the skin. It doesn't tug on the skin at all as you spread it across your face. I like to leave it on for a few seconds, and while it sits on the skin I feel like it's doing something. It comes off easily with just a bit of water, and after my skin feels clean and purified, but not at all stripped or dry. It's incredibly gentle on the skin, but still it really feels like it helps de-congest and clean the skin.

I've come to really love this cleanser. I've used it pretty much every morning since December and it's still going strong. I'd recommend this to everyone as a quick and easy, but really effective morning cleanser. I don't think it's enough to use in the evenings, I'd recommend a cleansing balm for that, unless you've got really sensitive skin. If so I think this could be the perfect cleanser for you as it's gentle, but still effective. Overall I couldn't be happier with this and have already re-purchased so I won't have to go a day without it when I do eventually run out!

  1. It sounds pretty awesome! But it's clearly way more expensive than what I can afford to pay for a cleanser right now :(
I've never tried La Prairie for this very reason.

  2. I've never tried anything from La Prarie, but now I am curious! I usually don't spend much on morning cleansers tho. I tend to stick to French pharmaceutical brands for a quick cleanse. Maybe I'll look into their other stuff!

  3. Yeah their products are a bit expensive, but at least now you know it's good should you ever feel like splurging! :) A cheaper alternative is the Clarins Extra-Comfort Anti-Pollution Cleansing Cream which costs a lot less and is a great morning cleanser as well! :) xx

  4. They have a lot of really good products, but do stay well clear of their foaming cleansers (horrible!!)!!. A few of my favourites are the Cellular Eye Contour Cream, Night Repair Cream and the Advanced Marine Biology day cream - all soo good!! :) xx

  5. Think I tweeted you, but I REALLY want to try this!!! That is all LOL!

  6. Hehe yes you did and you SHOULD! :D xx
