Finally - here it is; my last empties post of 2016! It's really, really late, but I couldn't skip it, so at last let's see what the total numbers are for the past year.
The first month of the year has flown by already and it's time for me to show you what products have impressed me the most so far in this brand new year. January has been very cold, dark and included my birthday at the end. As much as I love staying inside with a nice candle burning, watching youtube videos and making really good winter food, I can't wait for the weather to get at least a bit warmer. Mostly I am excited to finally have a bit of natural sunlight soon!
I've had a rough start to February. I've been really sick with the flu for over a week and fell behind on a lot of things at school with deadlines the coming week. This meant I've unfortunately been absent on the blog, but school always has to come first. But! I've managed to finally find some time to write my post about my January Favourites! I am really excited to share it with you guys as I've got some really good stuff to tell you about!
Guerlain is a brand that impresses me over and over. Everything I've ever bought from them I've absolutely loved. When they released their new mascara 'Maxi Lash' last year I received a sample and was immediately very impressed. So much so that I decided to buy the full-size.
Having previously been very impressed with the few Clarins' mascaras I had tried I was very excited to try their Instant Definition Mascara. I find the Clarins mascaras barely get any mention in the online beauty community and was excited to be trying a mascara without any preconceptions. Unfortunately, sometimes when there's no mention of a product it's because no one's had anything nice to say..
July has been an amazing month! The weather in Norway has been absolutely perfect - warm and not a cloud in the sky! I've had holidays for most of the month and have spent the time with family and my boyfriend. I've travelled a bit, but also stayed home and enjoyed doing nothing. The month has been fun in terms of makeup, somewhat surprisingly. I picked up a few new items in Berlin, and since getting back, that have all met expectations, or beyond.
Since Dior's New Look Mascara was such a disappointment I can't say my interest was high to try the Overcurl Mascara when it was released. Even though I kept hearing great things, I've been so smitten with Chanel and YSL's new releases; Le Volume De Chanel and Babydoll. Luckily I was given the Overcurl Mascara as a gift to try, because otherwise I might have never tried it - and that would have been a shame as this is one seriously fantastic mascara!
Helena Rubinstein isn't a brand much talked about on the beauty blogs and youtube channels, but it is a fantastic brand none-the-less and one started by a rather inspirational lady. The line has some fantastic skin care offerings plus a very nice selection of gorgeous makeup. It's a high-quality brand across the board and it always strikes me as odd that I never hear anyone talking about any of the products. I guess I'll be taking the lead!
Oddly I feel this past month went by slowly instead of too fast, which is usually the case. I think it might be because exams are slowly getting closer and closer and I, personally, would just like them to get here so I can be done with them already. March is one of those in-between months and so my makeup and skincare needs have been a bit back and forth and will probably be a bit for April as well. Here are the favourite products I used in March.
It's not all that long ago I was standing at a Chanel counter looking at their mascaras and thinking to myself that Chanel really needed to come out with a new one. I know some people love Chanel mascaras, but I was yet to be wowed. 'Was' being the operative word..
I picked up, and was gifted, a few new things this past month that I thought I'd share with you guys. There's so many exciting new launches coming this spring and summer, not even half of which are out yet, so it's hard to keep up. These are a few things, a few of them new products, that I'm excited to try out.
This month have been very simple in the makeup department for me. It's mostly been about getting ready quick and trying to keep my skin and lips from being too dry. I am so ready for the weather to get warmer and to start wearing lighter layers!
Here comes my very, very late November Empties post. It's a proper November empties though, as I started collecting my December empties in a separate bag when the new month started.
I've kept at it testing mascaras and next up was Inimitable Intense. I have never tried any Chanel mascaras before, and I haven't heard or read much about them either so I was quite excited to try my first one.
After my outstanding experience with Dior's Extase I thought I'd move right onto another Dior mascara, ready to be wowed again! Could any mascara live up to Extase, though?
Christian Dior's Diorshow Extase is ment to "plump lashes inside and out" by treating and reconstructing the lashes and as a mascara add lenght and volume. It can be used as a treatment with other mascaras on top, or as a mascara on it's own.
Sephora's Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara claims to be a 7 actions in 1 mascara, promising to both thicken, lenghten, separate, curve, nourish, strengthen and protect. Is this a case of biting of a bit more than is possible to chew, or have we witnessed the creation of the perfect mascara?
This past weekend I visited Paris for a romantic 4 day long weekend and it was amazing as always! It wasn't my first time in Paris, but it was my first time in Versaille and it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been!
I dare say this is Givenchy's most famous cosmetic. I have heard great things of the Phenomen 'Eyes mascara for the longest time, though for some reason never got around to actually trying it out for myself, until now.
